Spring Chicken

Happy Friday!  I hope everyone is well.  It's Jeanne today with a birthday card for all the "spring chickens" in your life.  This card uses the Rooster & Chick and Spring Lamb & Chick dies from the Spring collection.
I used the layout from this week's sketch challenge at Splitcoaststampers.  I rotated the sketch and made it square.
https://www.splitcoaststampers.com/forums/card-sketches-f41/sketch-challenge-786-%7B01-29-2020%7D-t632177.html
I first cut all the pieces for the rooster, chick and sun from various colors of scrap cardstock.  I debated about whether to go bright or more realistic for the rooster.  Once I had picked out my background paper I decided on the bright colors. (Ultimately I decided not to use the sun, but I saved it for later.)
I used the second largest of the Nested Scalloped Squares and the third largest of the Stitched Squares to cut the center panels.  Then I cut a 5 inch square from solid yellow and a 4 3/4 inch square from patterned paper.  I picked these papers as I thought they had a "country" feel that went with the rooster.  I stamped my sentiment in the corner of the white square.
Next I used coordinating ribbon for the diagonal stripes.  I glued this to the yellow panel and then that to a top fold 5 inch square card.
In order to raise the square panel above the ribbon I placed foam tape on the back.  I left the corner that would go over the ribbon blank, so the square would lay flat over the ribbon.
After I placed the square and the rooster, I thought it still needed a little something.  And that something was flowers!  The flowers from the Spring Lamb & Chick coordinate perfectly with this paper!
I used the peacock blue and magenta that are in the paper for the flowers.
I love this little rooster!  I have a whole set of "punny" chicken sentiments, so I know this die will be getting a lot more use!

Miss Ewe

Hello Scrapping Cottage Friends!

It is Pam creating with you on the blog today!

I don't know about you but I am really ready to see some of my friends and family.  Since I can't physically see them I am making a batch of cards to send out.  This little lamb was the perfect card for my sweet sisters!
Design Steps:

 1.  Cut out the lamb using the Spring Lamb & Chick die.  I cut them out in grey and white card stock

 2.  Using different colors of inks shade and color the pieces of the lamb before assembly.  I used a fine tip glue to attach all of the pieces

 3.  Use a white A2 card base, 4 x 5 1/4 piece of green DP, 3 3/4 x 5 piece of flowered DP, 1/2 x 3 3/4 piece of green DP and a 2 x 3 3/4 piece of green DP.  I also cut a pink checked DP square using the second from the largest Nested Stitched Scalloped Square die

4.  Glue the large green piece to the card base then add the flower DP and finally add the strips of green as shown

 5.  Next glue flat the pink checked square

6.  Finally add the lamb using pop dots add the sentiments.  I thought the sentiment needed some flowers around it so a cut out a few and added them around the sentiment

Come And Play With Us

Hi!

It's Anja here. I have a simple card for you today, combining two cute animal dies from the latest release.

For this card I used:
- Cottage Cutz dies (Spring Lamb & Chick, Duckling with Kite),
- Distress Inks,
- craft cardstock for die cuts,
- craft card base (12,5x17,5 cm),
- bristol paper for background (11,8x16,8 cm, 11x16 cm),
- pink card stock for background (11,5x16,5 cm),
- black pen,
- white pen,
- brush,
- paper glue.

First I cut and colored both ducklings and the sheep.

Next I trimmed the background paper.

I used the smallest white paper to color. I did a bit of green in the bottom for the grass. And I used a brush to make it look like the sky.

And then I put all the pieces together and this is my finished card.

Before I go I just want to remind you there's a Home Crafting Days Sale going on on The Scrapping Cottage online store. Great chance to get some new goodies to craft with.

Stay safe and have a nice Sunday.

Anja Z.

Latte Love

Happy Valentine's Day!  It's Jeanne today and I have a Valentine for you.  Actually, I sent this one to my youngest daughter - a gal who loves her lattes! (I also enclosed a Starbucks gift card.)
This card uses the same color palette as last week's card and some of the same elements.
I cut my pieces from various colors of cardstock using the new Juggling Spring Bunny and Spring Lamb & Chick dies, and the older Coffee & Cocoa Warm Wishes die.  I assembled all the pieces.
You may recognize this striped panel from last week - it's the panel I cut from the middle of my base panel!  I used the Nested Stitched Scallop Rectangles (middle size) to cut a white panel.
I stamped my sentiment on it using black ink.  I cut a panel 4.25 x 5.5 inches from white and embossed it with large dots.  The white was too plain for me and I felt this gave the card some visual interest.  The large dots contrast nicely with the smaller stripes.
I assembled it all on an A2 side fold card base.

Love Ewe

Happy Friday!  It's Jeanne today with a Valentine using the new Spring dies.  These dies are adorable and very versatile (and on sale right now!)  I made this card for my oldest daughter.  She loves puns, so I know she'll love this.
To start I cut all the pieces in various colors using the Spring Lamb & Chick and the Hello Spring Bloom dies.  The lamb is cut from vanilla cardstock to contrast a little with the white panel.
Then I assembled the pieces.  I use a silicone mat when gluing so my pieces don't stick to the surface.
For the base I cut a panel 4.25 x 5.5 inches from patterned paper.
Very often when I know I will be layering other panels on top of a patterned paper that I like, I cut a rectangle from the center of my panel.  This gives me a panel to use elsewhere and saves my paper!  It's not like I'm a paper hoarder (LOL), but I will admit to being afraid of running out of retired paper that I love.  This is one way to maximize its use.
I used the largest of the Nested Stitched Scalloped Rectangles to cut a white panel and stamped the sentiment in the lower left.
I centered that panel on my patterned paper and added the lamb and flowers.  My striped paper was dotted on the other side and I decided that I liked that better with the fluffy lamb and scallops.  To finish the card I adhered everything to an A2 top folding card base.
