The Sky's the Limit

Happy Friday!  It's Jeanne today and I have a fun card using the Fox in Airplane die from the new Springtime release.

This little pilot really caught my eye.  Not only do we have a few pilots in our family, but this works well with encouraging or congratulatory "sky high" type sentiments!

I started with a sketch from Splitcoaststampers that I rotated 90 degrees.

I went through my scrap box and picked out scraps that coordinated with the papers I wanted to use. Then I cut the pilot and plane from the Fox in Airplane die and the sun and clouds using the older Spring Frogs die.  I used vellum for the windshield.

My card and base is 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches.  I cut my base panel from striped paper and two other squares 4 1/4 inches square and 4 3/8 inches square.

I glued the two small panels together and added my sentiment strip (3/4 x 5 1/2 inches) and sun to the panels.

I trimmed my sun flush with the panels...

... then after gluing that to the base panel, I added the clouds and trimmed the banner flush with the base panel.

To add dimension I popped up the plane using foam strips.  I am one of those who uses A LOT of foam strips.  I like my popped up images to feel solid.  But this is purely a personal preference.

My pilot is taking to the skies!

This die and all the new Spring release dies are on sale right now!  They are 25% off and 60% off if you purchase the entire bundle!  There are so many cute dies - from bunnies to flowers to gnomes!  Click here to go to the store.

Easter Egg Hunt

Dear Scrapping Cottage Friends,

It is Pam creating with you today on the Thursday Blog!

It is just a few days before Easter and I just wanted to wish all of you a very blessed day on this special holiday.  I made this one last Easter card to celebrate!  I combined 3 of the Spring Release dies and I just love how it turned out.
Design Steps:
 1.  I decide to use a fun card design for these dies.  I used an A2 white card base and then I cut the front fold in half.  I cut a piece of checked green DP just slightly smaller then the half front fold.  Then cut a piece of pink DP slightly smaller then the green DP.
2.  Glue the front flap pieces to the white card base.  Then on the inside cut a piece of pink DP slightly smaller then the inside white card base and then a piece of green DP slightly smaller then the pink DP.  Then glue to the inside of the card
 3.  Using the Easter Egg Hunt die cut out all of the pieces in a variety of colors
4.  Using a variety of ink colors shade the pieces and then assemble with a fine tip glue.  I used tiny black rhinestones for the eyes
 5.  Cut dark green card stock using the Spring Grass die.  Glue the grass to the bottom of the front flap and the bottom of the inside.  Next glue the sign to the front and the bunnies to the inside as shown

6.  I decided to add some clouds and sun to the card so I cut the pieces out using the Spring Frogs die.    I also thought it would be fun to add some Easter Eggs so I cut out a variety of colored eggs using the Basket of Eggs die.  Glue the pieces as shown and your card is complete

Everything Is Going To Be Okay

Hi!

It's Anja here. This social distancing is getting harder and harder every day. That's why I wanted to make a card with a positive sentiment. And these cute frogs seemed as a good idea.

For this card I used:
- Cottage Cutz die (Spring Frogs),
- Distress Inks,
- craft card base (15x15 cm),
- white card stock for die cuts.
- bristol paper for background (14,5x14,5 cm)
- white pen,
- black pigment ink,
- pencil,
- rubber,
- water spritzer,
- plastic stencil (clouds),
- printer,
- trimmer,
- paper glue.

First I cut and colored the frogs and all the other die parts.

Then I started on the background. I used a pencil to sketch the borders for coloring.

First I colored the water. I used a rubber to erase the sketch marks.

Next I spritzed a few water drops over the colored water and let it dry. After that I made the sky using a plastic stencil.

Last I colored the right bottom corner to make it look like a piece of grass on the shore.

When I had everything colored I printed and trimmed the sentiment and assembled the card together.

This is all from me for today. Stay safe.

Anja Z.

Spring Frogs

Hi, Janja here with you.
Spring frogs are so incredibly cute that I just couldn't resist them.

- CottageCutz die: Spring frogs
- blank card: 4 1/4 x 5 1/2" (10,8 x 14 cm), folded
- green cardstock in different shades
- colored ink pads
- colored markers
- glue, double-sided adhesive tape, self-adhesive foam pads

First I applied blue ink on a white cardstock. Then I splashed water on it.

While the background was drying, I cut out all the pieces for my card.
I shaded the edges with ink pads and markers. I applied clear glitter to a dragonfly.

Then I attached the prepared background to the front of the card with double-sided adhesive tape. I glued the remaining pieces with glue and foam pads.

Have a nice day.

DT Samples- Spring Day 5

Hello Scrapping Cottage friends! Happy Friday to you! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit today. We are sampling DT cards using dies from the new Spring dies release.

They are in the online store and 25% off for a limited time. There are 27 new dies in the release and each one is cuter than the next. They will be perfect for your Easter and Spring card making.

We thought you might like to have some new and creative ideas for your Easter or Spring cards using these new dies. The cards today are both in a whimsical style. So let's get started with some details on the cards for today.

Card 1:  Our first sample today is from Jeanne Knobbe. She used the new Spring Frogs die to create her card. We get an extra day this month and it will be Saturday, February 29.  This only happens every 4 years. How often have you said "if only I had another day". Well now you do and Jeanne is celebrating that extra day.

The frog, lily pad and cattails are cut from white cardstock and colored with Distress Oxide inks.  The "water" behind the frog is a patterned paper as is the green background.

For the sentiment, she stamped the "happy phrase" from a birthday sentiment set and then created the "leap day" using a small wood mount alphabet set. She stamped each letter at an angle for added interest and the up and down stamping adds to the leap theme.

Card 2: Our next card for today is from Anja Zurga. She used the new Rooster & Chick die to create this cute outdoor scene. It could be used for a variety of card giving occasions. Think about - thank you, thinking of you, get well or even a Father's Day card. If you changed the sentiment it could be Mother's Day or a birthday card.

The images are cut in white cardstock and then colored with distress inks. The rise and shine phrase is from the die of the same name.

Well, that's our samples for today. I hope the team has given you some fresh ideas on ways to use these new Spring dies. We will be back again tomorrow with our final day of group posts. And, if you are thinking of getting any of these new dies, they are on sale for a limited time in the online store.
