Sleepy Gnome

Hi!

It's Anja here. Hope you're doing well and that vacation is coming for you soon. I'll have to wait till August for two weeks off.

I have a simple card for you today. Using a sleepy gnome die.

For this card I used:
- Cottage Cutz die (Sleepy Gnome w/Mushrooms),
- Distress Inks (Wild Honey, Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade, Barn Door, Fired Brick, Antique Linen, Pumice Stone, Stormy Sky, Faded Jeans, Peeled Paint, Brushed Corduroy, Black Soot, Tattered Rose) and Oxides (Broken China),
- white card base (10,515 cm),
- white card stock for die cuts,
- water spritzer,
- silver acrylic paint,
- heat gun,
- brush,
- paper glue.

First I cut and colored the gnome.

Next I made the background. I colored directly on the card base, using Distress Oxide.

After that I spritzed some water drops over it and dried it with the heat gun.

Newt I spritzed some silver paint over it and again dried it with the heat gun.

And in the end I just adhered the gnome and my card was done.

Have a nice Sunday and see you again next week.

Anja Z.

For a Friend Like Gnome One Else

Hello!  This is Sukie, thank you for stopping by the blog today to check out a fun card I created.  I was inspired by the new Magical Garden release to create this friendship card.
I wanted a rustic theme to my card so I started with a patterned sheet from the DCWV Timeless Type stack along with a kraft card base.  I trimmed my paper to fit the 5x5, oversized card.  The sentiment is a printable which was inked on the edges.
The die cuts are from the Cottage Cutz Sleepy Gnome w/Mushrooms and the Magical Forest die sets.  All of the die cuts were shaded with Distress Inks.
I began building the scene on my card base by placing the 2 mushrooms on the left side.  Next I added the tree stump and trimmed off the branch on the right side.
I tucked in the branch behind the gnome along with some of the greenery and flowers. The gnome was leaned against the tree.  A few pieces of grass were anchored along the bottom edge of my card.
Once I added the tiny bee to my card base, I decided to cut out a couple of the smaller mushrooms from the Magical Forest die set and adorned them on the tree stump.
A burlap handout flag along with a small bow in jute were adhered as embellishments. The sentiment was the final finishing touch on my card.
Here are the dies used on my card, available in the shop:

DT Samples w/Magic Garden dies (Day 1)

Hello Scrapping Cottage friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit today. We are sampling DT cards for the next week from our brand new Magic Garden release.

There are 14 new dies in the Magic Garden release. And for a limited time the individual dies are on sale at 25% off.  If you love fairies, fairy gardens, gnomes and flowers, you will love these dies.

We want to give you some creative ideas for using the dies. So let's get started with the cards for today. It's all about the gnomes!

Card 1:  Our first sample today is from Sukie Dhillon. She used the new Gnome on Tree Stump die to create this awesome card. The card features a gingham background and a jolly gnome looking so cozy sitting on his tree stump. The white picket fence just adds to the appeal of the card.
It would be a sweet way to send a welcome home greeting for a special friend, neighbor or family member. You could also send a card like this as a congratulations on a new home card. The possibilities are many so let your imagination run wild.

Card 2: Our next sample today is from Jeanne Knobbe.  She used the Sleepy Gnome w/Mushrooms, Magical Unicorn Dreams and Spring Mushrooms dies on this creative shaker card. She is giving us a little peek into the gnomes dream. And, of course its about mushrooms (LOL)! Iridescent sequins are the shaker elements and just add to the charm of her card.
This would make a good all-occasion card or one for someone who needs encouragement to take a chance on their dreams.
Well, that's our samples for today. I hope the team has given you some fresh ideas for a way to use the dies. Stop by the Blog again tomorrow for more team samples.
