Seahorse & Sea Turtle

Hi!

It's Anja here. I have two cards for you today. I made a cute set with a Seahorse and a Turtle.

 For this project I used:

- Cottage Cutz dies (Seahorse, Sea Turtle, Circle Set),

- Dye Inks,

- 2 white card bases (15x15 cm),

- white card stock for die cuts,

- water color paper (2 14,2x14,2 cm),

- acrylic paint sprays (blue shades),

- sentiment stamps,

- acrylic block,

- black pigment ink,

- white pigment ink,

- black pen,

- white pen,

- Wink of Stella glitter pen,

- heat gun,

- adhesive foam pads,

- paper glue.

First I cut and colored the turtle. I used white pigment ink and a brush to emphasize some parts of the turtle. I also added a bit of glitter to it.

Next I cut and colored the seahorse.

Then I cut two paper stencils.

I put the stencil over the watercolor paper and sprayed it with acrylic spray paints. I used three shades of blue.

Next I removed the stencils and added a few drops of the lightest blue shade to add over the paper. I dried the paper with the heat gun.

After that I added some color to the edges of the background paper. I also stamped the sentiment.

When I had all the pieces ready I assembled the cards together. I added the turtle and the seahorse using adhesive foam pads for dimension. And my cards were done.

This is all from me for today. Have a nice Sunday and see you again next week.

Anja Z.

Birthday Fishes

Hello!  This is Sukie and today I'm sharing a fun card for my design team day.  I couldn't resist creating another under water card with the new Pirate die release.
I couldn't help but use a variety of dies for this under the sea card. The Seahorse and Tropical Fish die set are from the new release. I only cut out the seaweed from the Tropical Fish die set and intertwined it in the net from the Paddles and Rope Ladder die set. The Ship's Wheel was cut out as an embellishment for my card.
The background of my card was created with a combination of Oxide Inks which was heavily splattered with water.  I also cut out the largest circle from the Pierced Wide Circle Frame Set for a monochromatic color theme on my card.
To build my card, the net with the seaweed was nestled inside the circle frame.  The paddle was angled across the top of the circle along with the seahorse.  I love how the seahorse pops against the card base and the other die cuts.
I then added all of the starfish to the net and a couple of them to the paddle.  The ship's wheel was added as a fun embellishment.
Of course, I had to incorporate the school of fish randomly on the background of my card.  The embossed sentiment finished off my card.
Here are the die set used on my card, available in the store:

Under the Sea

Hi, Lois here with a fun card today.  As you may or may not know, CottageCutz recently released a whole series of word dies -- 35 in all.  Check them out in the CottageCutz store.  I had such fun making my card for today, and I used one of the word dies -- discover -- on it.  I'm a big fan of underwater scenery, and that's what I created today.

To start my card,  I cut a piece of heavyweight teal-colored cardstock 5 1/2" x 11", scored in half.  Then I cut a piece of navy cardstock 5 1/4" square and a piece of swirly bluegreen patterned paper 5 1/8" square.

Most of the die-cuts on my card come from one single die, Under the Sea -- plus the Clown Fish (which may be currently out-of-stock) die and the Seahorse die -- as well as the word die.

After cutting the pieces, I added some color shading using Copic markers.

Then I went about constructing my scene.  That was really a lot of fun.  The inset pieces on the seahorse and clown fish were cut from cardstock on which I had already applied some adhesive backing, so inlaying them into the outlines was pretty easy once I had glued down the fish and seahorse onto the card.

Here again is my completed underwater scene.
