Santa and Reindeer

Hello Scrapping Cottage Friends

It is Pam on the blog today.

I am continuing to make a few more Christmas cards for friends and family.  Believe it or not I am almost finished.  My family all live back east so I need to get them in the mail very soon.   I am using a few new dies today to create this fun flip/swing card. There is also a cute surprise on the inside!

Design Steps:
1.  Use the Santa Reading to His Reindeer die and cut out all the pieces.  I used mainly Kraft and white card stock then colored the different pieces as needed
2.  Shade the pieces and then assemble with a fine tip glue
3.  Create the base of the flip card.  There are a number of great videos on YouTube to create the base.  Just type in flip card or swing card.  I used designer paper to create the layer of snowflakes and glitter paper for the snow on the bottom.  Glue the DP to the flaps and the snow to the bottom

4.  On the right side I popped up two deer as shown
5.  On the left side I popped up the largest deer and I cut a circle for the center using the snowflake DP and the Cross Stitched Circle die.  I also cut white glitter card stock using the Santa's Express Tag and glued it to the cross stitched circle
6.  When you flip open the card you will see Santa.  I colored him with copic makeres and nudged him a little off center so the card would flip.  For the Ho Ho Ho I used part of the Hot Cocoa Tag and just cut away the HO cutting it three times. Add a few snowflakes cut from the Winter Window die.  Stamp the Merry Christmas and your card is complete

This was a fun card to create.  I will probably send it off to one of my fellow card makers! Thanks so much for stopping by.  I really appreciate it!

North Pole Toy Company

Hello Scrapping Cottage friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with us today. It's Mary Marsh here bringing you the Monday edition of the Blog.

We have three brand new releases in the online store. It's Christmas Part 1 (22 new designs), Christmas Part 2 (21 new designs) and a Halloween release (14 new designs). They are all currently on sale and you can save anywhere from 25% to 60%.

For my card today I am using the new Gnome w/Lights die and the North Pole Toy Company dies. I created a slimline Christmas card with these ever so cute dies. They are perfect for making Christmas scenes.

The card colors are from the Splitcoaststampers color challenge #808. We were to use mossy meadow, merry merlot & bumblebee for the colors. Optional was to make a masculine card. This one is going to a 7 year old boy for Christmas.

I cut the images with cardstock in the challenge colors. The background layer is a mossy meadow designer paper and I added a layer of vellum to soften the color.

The card base is mossy meadow and measures 8 7/8" x 3 3/4". The designer paper is  8 5/8" x 3 1/2". Behind the North Pole Toy Company die I added another layer of vellum.

To complete my card I decided to add several reindeer and they are from the Santa Reading to his Reindeer die.

That's it for me for this post. I hope I have given you a creative idea for a way to create some cute Christmas scenes with these new dies. See you on Saturday.

Santa Reading to Reindeer (new die)

Hello Scrapping Cottage friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with us today. It's Mary Marsh here bringing you the Saturday edition of the Blog.

We have three brand new releases in the online store. It's Christmas Part 1 (22 new designs), Christmas Part 2 (21 new designs) and a Halloween release (14 new designs). They are all currently on sale and you can save anywhere from 25% to 60%.

We also have a Labor Day sale going on with savings of up to 60% on selected dies. This sale will run through Wednesday, September 9.

For my card today I am using the Santa Reading to his Reindeer and the Santa Express Tag dies from the Christmas Part 1 release. So let's get started with some details of how I created my card.

Design Steps:
I decided to create a slimline card with these new dies so I looked for some background paper that I thought might work. I just bought this new Snowflake Splendor paper and I liked this subtle pattern.

Balmy Blue card base: 8 1/2" x 3 1/2"
Designer Paper Layer: 8 1/4" x 3 1/4"

Next, I cut Santa and his reindeer. I used colored cardstock for the images. You could also use white cardstock and color with your favorite coloring medium
I attached the images to the designer paper using glue dots.
I was going to stamp a sentiment across the top of the panel but I didn't have one that fit this image. So I thought the Santa Express Tag would work well in the corner of my card.
I cut it from red cardstock and then again from white cardstock. I used the die inlay technique and glued the words and scallops with Ranger multi medium matte.

To finish off this little outdoor Santa scene I attached the image panel to the blue card base with double sided tape. I scattered a few snowflake sequins to complete this card.

That's it for me for this post. I hope I have given you an idea for a way to use this new Santa die. See you next Saturday!
