Hot Wheels!

Hello Scapping Cottage Friends,

It is Pam sharing with you today!

I am starting off the new year trying to get a head start on some birthday cards.  I have a number of male cards I need to make including hubby!  Masculine cards have always been a challenge for me.  But using the Classic 50's released has really helped with the challenge.  There is everything from cool cars to electric guitars!!  Today, I am using the awesome Motorcycle.

Design Steps:

1.  Using the Motorcycle die cut out the pieces in the following colors of card stock: red, yellow, silver, black, light and dark grey.  Shade the pieces with various inks and a small applicator
2.  Assemble the pieces using a fast drying fine tip glue
3.  For the base use black card stock in an A2 size
  • Cut a white panel 4 1/8 x 5 3/8 embossed in brick and inked with light grey
  • A silver panel 1 3/4 x 5 1/4 embossed and layered on black
  • A piece of turquoise cut with the third from the largest Wacky Stitched Rectangle and layered on black.  Wrap the turquoise rectangle with a piece of black ribbon
  • Using the Ring in the New Year die cut out 5 of the hats in the black checked DP for the banner
4.  Glue the white brick panel to the black card front.  Glue the silver strip to the white brick panel slightly to the left as shown above.  Place pop up strips to the back of the turquoise rectangle and then pop it to the front as shown below
5.  Glue the black string to the top of the card as shown above and then add the little checked banners. Add the little red stars and your sentiment and the card is complete

Happy New Year

Hello CottageCutz friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with us today. It's Mary Marsh here bringing you the Sunday edition of the Blog.

Hope you all had a great Christmas and holiday week. Now it's time to settle in for the winter months. It's a perfect time for cardmaking and other crafting pursuits.  To help you out we are having an after Christmas sale over in the online store. The savings are up to 80% off.
Today for your viewing pleasure, I am featuring a slimline New Year's card. I typically send out a few to friends I may have missed with a Christmas card. I used the Polar Bear Trio & Igloo die and the Stitched Numbers dies. This one is retired but it's still available at 76% off right now.

Card Details:

I started my card with the designer paper selection. I have this collection of slimline card fronts and I picked this scene. I thought it had a celebratory look to it. Sort of like fireworks going off in the sky. My interpretation anyway (lol)!!! I added it over a white card base.

White card base: 3 3/4" x 8 3/4"
Designer Paper: 3 3/4" x 8 3/4"
Next, I cut the polar bears in white cardstock and used different colors of complementary cardstocks for their hats. The bears with their hand lifted looked as though they were sending happy new year greetings.
The "2023" stitched phrase is cut in white cardstock.
Now that all my elements are prepared, I am ready to start card assembly. I attached the designer paper to the card base using double sided tape.
The bears were attached with dimensional adhesive.
To finish off my card, I added the stitched 2023 phrase. The numbers were attached with clear drying glue.
That's my card for this week. See you again on Saturday!

Happy New Year

Hello Scrapping Cottage friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with us today. It's Mary Marsh here bringing you the Friday edition of the Blog. And, not just any Friday but it's the first day of 2021. Hope you all had a nice Christmas celebration and are looking forward to a better New Year.

We are having a big after Christmas sale over in the online store. You can pick up some great dies at some great prices. The savings range anywhere from 25% to 80% off the original die price. We also have a new release of Circus dies and they are being featured on a special bundle price. Check everything out here. The DT will begin showing samples with these new dies in the coming week.

For the post today, I used the Woodland Birdhouse die from our Christmas Part 3 release and created a New Years card. It's currently on sale for 40% off. I usually make a couple of New Year's cards to send out to people. So this one goes to my nephew who always gets a New Years card from me.

Design Steps:

I started this card with the colors. I used the colors from the Splitcoaststampers color challenge #824. Our own Jeanne was the hostess and she chose blushing bride, pool party and smoky slate as her color trio. Optional was sparkle or shine.
I thought the Woodland Birdhouse die would work for a New Year's card. And, with all the color options that are available in this challenge with neutral shades I knew I could make it work.

I selected my background paper next.  I had this paper in the pool party shade that looked like a snowy background.

Then I started cutting my images. The birdhouse and pinecones are cut from soft suede (medium brown) cardstock. For the fir branches and leaves I used mossy meadow (dark green) designer paper and the berries are cut from merry merlot cardstock. All of these colors are considered neutrals.
I used white glitter paper for the snow on the birdhouse roof and the tree branches. For the Happy New Year sentiment, I used the Ring in the New Year die and cut it in a black foil paper for emphasis. It's a  die from 2018 and is currently on a 50% off sale.

To finish off this card, I added a little bird cut in smoky slate from the Fox & Bird die. It's another older die and also on sale at 60% off.  I also scattered a few pink enamel dots.

Well, that's it for me for this post. See you next Saturday!

Husky Rings in the New Year

Hello Scrapping Cottage friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with us today. It's Mary Marsh here bringing you the Saturday edition of the Blog. I hope you all had a great Christmas.

There are some big sales going on in the online store. The after Christmas sale has savings of up to 80% on CottageCutz designs. And, the new Artic Animal release is on sale with savings of 25%. There are 13 new designs in this release and each one is so versatile for a variety of card making and giving occasions.

Today, I am featuring the Husky w/Sled and I used it to make a New Year card. Sometimes I like to think out of the box for different ways to use the CottageCutz dies.

I usually make a few New Years cards and then send them out to friends or family. I select different people each year and send it in place of a Christmas card. Just to change things up a bit !!!

So let's get started with some details on how I created this card.

Design Steps:
I cut my husky and sled and used different colors of cardstock for the images. You could also cut in white cardstock and then color with the medium of your choice.
To make my card a bit festive and help celebrate the new year, I used the Ring in the New Year die, it's from the 2018 Christmas release, for the champagne, champagne glasses and happy new year sentiment. The champagne glasses are cut with vellum and then I added gold glitter cardstock for the champagne.

I decided to emboss a snowy background for the image panel. After all the husky is a sled puller in the Artic! Just don't know how many of them will be pulling champagne and glasses (LOL)!!!

embossed panel: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"
Now that my elements are cut and embossed, I am ready to start card assembly.
I started with the husky and sled. I used dimensional adhesive to give them a slight lift off the snowy background.
Next, I added the champagne and glasses. I also used dimensional adhesive to secure them.
I added the Happy New Year sentiment. Then I decided to cut a couple of streamers from the same die. It helped to fill in the space.
To finish off my card, I added the image panel to a red cardstock base.

Card Base: 4 1/2" x 5 3/4"

Well, that's it for me for this week. I hope I have given you a fresh idea for a way to use this new die. Happy New Year Scrapping Cottage friends!
