Fishing You the Best Birthday Ever!

Hello!  This is Sukie and today I'm sharing another card which features several of the under water creatures from the Pirates and Sea Creatures die release.  I went with a slim line card so that I could add several of the dies from this release.
The Crab, Octopus, Jellyfish and Tropical Fish were all die cut and shaded with Oxide Inks.  I used some Glossy Accents for their eyes and for the bubbles.
I created an ink blended background and splattered it with water.  The ocean floor was hand cut, inked and splattered with some paint for a speckled look.
The sentiment was heat embossed on a hand cut flag.  The combination of fonts on the sentiment makes for a fun addition to this whimsical card.
Here are the die sets used on my card, available in the store:

Have A Nice Day

Hi!

It's Anja here. For today's post I made an under the sea card. I combined some of the beautiful new dies to make the scene below.

For this card I used:
- Cottage Cutz dies (Crab, Jellyfish, Octopus, Under the Sea),
- Distress Oxides,
- craft card base (15x15 cm),
- white card stock for die cuts,
- water spritzer,
- black pen,
- white pen,
- sentiment stamp,
- acrylic block,
- black pigment ink,
- paper glue.

First I cut and colored the creatures. After a long time I used Distress Oxides for coloring and I think it's perfect for this tree dies. I used black and white pen for the eyes.

Next I cut and colored all the elements for under the sea scene.

Then I did the background. I colored it with two shades of blue Distress Oxides. Then I spritzed a few drops of water over it and let it dry.

I used a stamp for the sentiment.

Then I glued all the ground elements to the card base. I added the creatures on the card using adhesive foam pads. Last I added some interest to the creatures using a white pen. And my card was done.

Thank you for visiting. Have a nice Sunday and see you again next week.

Anja Z.

Homage to the Beatles

Happy Monday!  It's Jeanne today with an extra card this week and one I had a lot of fun making!  When I saw the octopus in the new release I was working on cards for the last release - gardening.  I immediately thought about putting the Garden Phrases and Octopus dies together.  And I couldn't resist throwing in the Toy Submarine die.
I love music - all kinds of music!  I grew up listening to the Beatles and I listened to them while working on this card.   Lot's of good memories!

The background of this card is a patterned paper that happened to be perfect to set the scene.  For the sign I used the Garden Phrases sign and simply trimmed along one of the wood grain cuts to make it smaller.  The seaweed is from the Tropical Fish die.

I cut everything but the sign various colors of cardstock except the sign which I cut from white.  I used ink to shade the seaweed and octopus and to color the sign.  The octopus was popped up using foam dots.

I hope you enjoyed my card today.  It would certainly be perfect for the music lover in your life!

Oceans of Love

Hello Scrapping Cottage friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with us today. It's Mary Marsh here bringing you the Saturday edition of the Blog.

We have a brand new release of dies in the online store. This one is all about the sea with Pirates and undersea creatures. There are 14 new whimsical designs and each one is cuter than the next. These cards would be ideal for so many occasions. The DT has been sampling these new dies for a variety of occasions. So check back through the Blog if you need some inspiration.

For my card today, I am featuring the new Jellyfish & Octopus dies and I created a whimsical birthday card for a little boy who is turning 6. So let's get started with some details on how I created my card.

Design Steps:
Since I knew I was created a sea themed  card, I started by selecting my designer paper. I have this sea themed collection and this particular piece just looked like wave movement to me. I thought it would work well for an underwater scene.

Mint Macaron Card Base: 4 3/4" x 5 3/4"
Designer Paper Layer: 4 1/2" x 5 1/2"
Next, I cut my jelly fish in mint macaron and sponged his tentacles in the same shade of ink for a color gradient. The octopus is cut from a fig designer paper. I liked the texture it gave the image.
For my sentiment I decided to use a combo of a die cut + a stamped sentiment. The Sending phrase is from an older CottageCutz die- Sending Hugs.  I cut it in a fig cardstock

Now that all my card elements are cut, I am ready to start card assembly. I attached the jelly fish and octopus with dimensional adhesive to lift off the designer paper and give a bit of depth. Stamped the sentiment in a fig ink 3x using my MISTI tool.

and attached the Sending Phrase with Ranger multi-medium matte.

I thought I still needed something on the bottom right corner, so I added some sea greens, star fish and another small fish. These are from the Mermaid die. Attached the image panel to the mint card base and my card is complete.

That's it for me for this post. See you next Saturday!
