A Cupcake for Your Birthday

It's time for another Throwback Tuesday!  It's Jeanne here today and I have a fun birthday card fusing a die from the 2019 Birthday release combined with the new Slimline dies.  These new dies are a great way to give variety to your card layouts!

I started with a card sketch from Splitcoatstampers that I rotated 90 degrees.  Card sketches are a great way to save time when creating.  Sometime I use them exactly, and other times they are a great starting point.

Next I chose papers and ribbon to get my colors.  The fun thing about this little mouse is that by changing up the colors you can make it more for a younger or older recipient, male or female.  I wanted mine to be very bright for a child so I went with this rainbow stripe paper.

I stamped my sentiment on a strip cut with the smallest of the Nested Stitched Rectangle Slimline dies.  Further contributing to the throwback theme I found some small old wooden alphabet stamps.  These worked perfectly to make the "Happy Birthday" sentiment.  I placed my die on my cardstock and drew a light pencil line around the outside edge.   I stamped my sentiment before cutting it out so I could adjust the placement and make sure it was centered.  Stamping at random angles adds to the casual, happy feel and is more forgiving than if I had tried to line up all the stamps!

My background paper is cut using the largest of the Nested Stitched Rectangle Slimline dies and I used the Stitched Circle and Nested Stitched Scallop Circle dies to give focus to my mouse.  She is cut from scraps and popped up using foam dots.

I love some bling, so I added some rhinestones to the final card.  Be sure to visit the online store where the new Slimline Release is on sale for a limited time!

Sweet Birthday Wishes

Hello Scrapping Cottage friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with us today. It's Mary Marsh here bringing you the Tuesday edition of the Blog.

The new release of Birthday dies have been restocked in the online store. So if you didn't get the ones you wanted previously, all 25 designs are in stock. This release is filled with cute little whimsical animals, birthday cakes, cupcakes and birthday phrases. Everything you need to create some outstanding birthday cards.

Today for your viewing pleasure I am featuring the Mouse with Cupcake die. I created this card using the colors from the Splitcoaststampers color challenge #754. I am the hostess of the challenge this week.

I don't have a lot of photos but I will give details on all dies used as well as paper sizes. So let's get started.

Step 1: I started my card with the challenge colors. They are lovely lipstick (red), gorgeous grape (purple) and coastal cabana (tropical green). I used these colors on the mouse apron, the cupcake and the birthday present. I used Ranger multi medium matte to secure.
gorgeous grape, lovely lipstick, coastal cabana
I came across a nice sketch online that I used for my card layout. I kept it on the simple side to allow my mouse image to be the star attraction.
gorgeous grape card base: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"
designer paper background layer: 4 1/8" x 5 3/8"
coastal cabana striped sentiment panel: 1 5/8" x 4"

Step 2: I used the 4th largest die from the nested wacky stitched circle set for my 2 circles. One is cut in white and I cut another in coastal cabana and offset it slightly. The birthday present is from the Birthday Hedgehog die set.

I stamped the sentiment directly on the striped designer paper in gorgeous grape ink. To finish off the card, I scattered a few gorgeous grape enamel dots.

That's it for this post. I will be back on Saturday featuring another card from this whimsical new release.

Cheesy Birthday

Hi!

It's Anja here. I have a little bit bigger project for you today. I made a larger birthday card, using all the cute mice from the birthday release.

For this project I used:
- Cottage Cutz dies (Ballerina Mouse, Mouse With Cupcake, Birthday Mouse Cupcake, Mouse With Cake, Circle Set),
- Distress Inks (Spun Sugar, Worn Lipstick, Barn Door, Mowed Lawn, Pumice Stone, Brushed Corduroy, Vintage Photo, Black Soot, Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade, Wild Honey) and Oxides (Wild Honey, Fossilized Amber),
- white card stock for die cuts,
- water color paper for background (29,5x14,5 cm),
- yellow/orange card stock for background (30,5x15,5 cm) and cuts,
- black pen,
- white pen,
- white pigment ink,
- water spritzer,
- heat gun,
- black pigment ink,
- scissors,
- adhesive foam pads,
- paper glue.

First I colored all four mice. I used black pen for the eyes and white to add some dimension to the cuts.

Next I colored the water color paper for background. I used Oxides to color and Distress Ink for the edges.

Next I cut the holes. I used Circle Set dies (the smallest three) for the cuts.

Next I cut orange card stock and used white pigment ink to color the cuts in the middle so the middle would look a bit lighter.

I decided to add a bit more interest to previous paper with some water drops. I dried the paper with the heat gun.

And last I made the sentiment. I stamped it on the orange paper and cut it out with the scissors.

And when I had all the pieces I glued the card together. I used adhesive foam pads to glue both parts of the background and paper glue for the sentiment and the mice. And my project was done.

Have a nice Sunday and see you again next week.

Mouse With A Cupcake

Hi!

It's Anja here. I have another card for you today. Again with a little different opening. This time I used a cute mouse lightening a candle.

For this card I used:
- Cottage Cutz dies (Mouse With Cupcake, Pierced Circle Set, Circle Set, Nested Stitched Scallop Circle Set),
- Distress Inks (Spun Sugar, Antique Linen, Worn Lipstick, Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade, Brushed Corduroy, Vintage Photo, Black Soot),
- white card stock for die cuts,
- patterned paper for die cuts,
- black pen,
-white pen,
- liquid drops (yellow),
- hole puncher,
- split pin,
- paper glue.

First I cut and colored the mause and the cupcake. I used liquid drops for the icing.

Next I cut three pairs of circles. I colored the middle circles around the edges.

Then I glued the circle together and made a hole on top to insert a split pin.

And then I just glued the mouse and the cupcake on top and my card was done.

Have a nice Sunday and see you again next week.
