Group Post Black Friday Release Dies (Day 5)

Hello CottageCutz friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with us today. It's Black Friday release week here on the Blog.

We have a new Classic 50's release that makes its debut here on the Blog and also in the online store. You can pick up the bundle for a huge 65% off. That's under $97 or 30% off individual dies. The release is filled with some amazing retro images from the 50's era.

We have been featuring group posts for the past several days to give you lots of inspiration on different ways to use the dies. If you missed our first 4 posts, you could see them hereherehere and here.
Card 1: Our first card for today is from Melinda Beltran. She created a multi-layered holiday card. The colors, layout and designer paper come together perfectly for a beautiful non-traditional card. It's tailor-made for the friend or family member with that sweet tooth. We all know someone and this stylye card would be so fun to send out to them.

To create her card she used the Fifties Soda Bar, Milkshake & Root Beer Float and the Cinema Drive-in Sign

Card 2: Our next samples for today are from Linh Van. She created 4x4 notecards using the Poodle Skirt & Rollerskate dies. I like the Bohemian style she achieved on the poodle skirt with her designer paper pattern. The "hi" phrase is from the 2018 Retro Alphabet die. One sale right now for 75% off.

These would be perfect for a set of cards to give as a gift to a friend for her birthday or Christmas. Who wouldn't like to receive something handmade? Or to send yourself to let someone know you are thinking of them. That's always appreciated.

That's it for our samples for today. Drop by again tomorrow for more inspiration.

Group Post Black Friday Release Dies (Day 3)

Hello CottageCutz friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with us today. It's Black Friday release week here on the Blog.

We have a new Classic 50's release that makes its debut here on the Blog and also in the online store. You can pick up the bundle for a huge 65% off. That's under $97 or 30% off individual dies. The release is filled with some amazing retro images from the 50's era.

We will have group posts for the next several days to give you lots of inspiration on different ways to use the dies. If you missed our first 2 posts, you could see them here, and here.

Card 1: Our first card for today is from Kristine Breach.  She created a fun easel card and used some great colors on the card. It would fit a variety of occasions. Maybe a 50th birthday, or someone who is an avid motorcycler, or even someone who loves the 50's era. This would really make a cute card for a 50th wedding anniversary. We all know playful couples who like to have fun.

Kris used the MotorcycleCinema Drive-in Sign for the card front. This is the front view of the easel card. She used the Fifties Phrases #2 die on a popped-up panel to act as the stopper for the easel when it's opened.
And of course, the card folds flat for mailing and fits in a standard envelope.
Card 2:  Our next sample for today is from Pam MacKay. She created an A2 size card and cut the front panel in half and attached her image.

It's a quick "half-front" card fold for when you want to do something special but don't have time for a lot of scoring or special tools. All you do is cut half of the front cover off.

It's a fun style card. This one is for a birthday, but you could use it for Father's Day as well.

She used the Classic Car (Front) and cut in black cardstock to make it pop. The phrase is part of the Fifties Phrases #2 die. Also cut in black cardstock for a standout. The car designer paper complements the theme of the card.
Card 3:
Our last sample for today is from Linh Van. She created a full-front or infinity shaker card. If you like shaker cards and don't like to use foam or struggle with lining it up this style shaker is for you. And shaker cards present such a wow factor. Adults and kids love this style card. You just place acetate across the front of the card.

Linh used the Fifties Jukebox die and the Fifties Phrases #1 with lots of purple glitter paper for a bright and festive birthday look. The phrase "Bday" is from the 2018 Retro Alphabet die that is currently on sale for 75% off.

You can check out her YouTube channel for a video on how she created this card. Click here.
Well, that's our samples for today. Stop by again tomorrow for more inspiration from the team. And don't forget that we are having a huge Black Friday sale going on with savings of up to 85% off.

Summer is Here!

Hi everyone! My name is Linh and I'm honored and excited to be here as a guest designer. I have a new video up on the CottageCutz YouTube Channel. In this video, I combined the Easel, Build an Ice Cream Cone, and Ice Cream Truck die sets from the Sweet Treats Collection. Where's the ice cream truck, you ask? My initial design plan for this card didn't quite come together the way I saw it in my head. Then I remembered... there's a beautiful white canvas on the inside of the card! And voila -- the perfect spot for a fun surprise when you open the card!

Easy Slider Card with No Special Dies

Hi everyone! My name is Linh and I'm honored and excited to be here as a guest designer. I have a new video up on the CottageCutz YouTube Channel. In this video, I'll show you how I made this fun slider card. I don't drink so when I say "Make it a double", my husband knows this is what I'm talking about. LOL

To create this card, I've used elements from three different sets from the new Sweet Treats collection. The main ice cream cup and larger scoop of ice cream is from the Ice Cream Sundae die set. That set includes a dollop of whipped cream and a strawberry, but I always think of ice cream sundaes as having a cherry on top, so I took the cherry from the Cupcake with Cherry set. The scale fits perfectly. In order to have the second scoop hidden initially, it needs to be smaller than the large scoop. I used one of the many scoops of ice cream from the Build An Ice Cream Cone set.  This creates the perfect double-scoop ice cream cup!

I die cut all the elements from solid color card stock but to make the ice cream extra special, I dusted it with Nuvo Shimmer Powder and spritz it with my homemade mica mist in snow white. That gives it all the delicious color variation of natural ice cream as well as a beautiful shimmer. I used Diamond Glaze on the cherry to give it that glossy shine. To finish the card, I used my Dymo label to create the custom sentiment and stamped "pull here" on an arrow so the card recipient knows this is an interactive card.

Theme Your Cake Shoppe And Use it All Year Long!

Hi everyone! My name is Linh and I'm honored and excited to be here as a guest designer. I have a new video up on the CottageCutz YouTube Channel. In this video, I'll show you how I took the Cake Shoppe from the new Sweet Treat release and combined it with the Spooky Camper set to create two different cards. The Cake Shoppe is super versatile and can be themed so you can use it all year long.

For both cards, I die cut from solid color cardstock. It's a great way to use up all your scraps and saves you from having to color little pieces. For the smaller pieces, I used a glue pen to apply adhesive. This allows you to get glue precisely where you want it.  I like to die cut a lot of elements so I can mix and match and have a lot of choices when I go to create my card. I had so many leftover pieces, I made a second card!

This first card is a Halloween themed cake shoppe.

This card converts the cake shoppe to a haunted house.

On this second card, I used some of the Cake Shoppe elements differently.  The small windows and front porch step I used as bricks. The greenery in the pots I used as bushes. And I combined more of the Spooky Camper elements to complete my haunted house.  I had so much fun tucking all the spooky elements here and there. I especially love the cat that's hiding behind the pumpkin. :)

Guest Designer Intro

Hello Scrapping Cottage Fans. Today I have the pleasure of announcing a new addition to the CottageCutz YouTube Team.

 Linh Van

I’m Linh – or LV Handcrafted on social media. I live in Seattle, WA (the rain doesn’t bother me one-bit 😊) with my husband and our two dogs. I’ve been crafting since I was in high school but took a long break as I started my career. Now (many many years later) I am my own boss working as a business consultant, so I can balance my time and do more of what I love – papercrafting!

I’m honored and excited to join such a talented team of crafters and the CottageCutz community. There’s always so much to learn in papercrafting, and I find great joy in adding my own twist and sharing what I've learned.

I love to share my makes as a way of giving back to our amazing crafty community. I mainly create process videos on my YouTube channel so you can see exactly how I create my projects. I dabble in a bit of everything - card making, mini albums, journals – and I love all things die-cutting - paper piecing, paper dolling, etc.

I’m looking forward to designing for CottageCutz and to interacting with you on all the socials!

Linh will have her first video up on the CottageCutz YouTube channel next Friday May 20th.

Our newest release- Sweet Treats- is in the online store. You can still pick up the bundle pricing through tonight at 9:00 pm PST.
