Circus Fun

Hi!

It's Anja here. Finally my Circus and Slimline dies arrived. And this is the first card I made with my new goodies.

For this card I used:

- Cottage Cutz dies (Balancing Elephant, Prancing Pony, Leaping Lion, Windows Slimline, Clouds Slimline, Nested Rectangles Slimline),

- Distress Inks,

- white card base (10x21 cm),

- patterned paper (9,5x21 cm),

- white card stock for die cuts,

- black pen,

- white pen,

- washi tape,

- paper trimmer,

- adhesive foam pads,

- paper glue.

First I cut and colored all three animals.

Next I cut all the parts for the background. I trimmed the patterned paper and die cut all the other three parts. I used the second largest die from the Nested Rectangles Slimline set. I colored the rectangle with red Distress Ink and then cut the Windows Slimline die out of it. I also cut two windows out of white card stock.

I also decided to add a curtain in the back. I used Clouds Slimline die to make the curtain. I used a small piece of the paper to make it look like drapes.

Then I arranged all the pieces on the card base and glued it together. I added the curtain between two window cuts. I used adhesive foam pads to adhere the animals. And my card was done.

That's all from me for today. Have a nice Sunday and see you again next week.

You're The Grrreatest

Hello Scrapping Cottage friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with us today. It's Mary Marsh here bringing you the Saturday edition of the Blog.

We have a brand new release of dies in the online store. It's our Circus release with 16 new designs. They are currently on sale at 25% off individual dies. The Safari release dies are also on sale at 25% off individual dies. This was our Black Friday release.

The Circus & Safari dies are so cute for Birthday, Valentine, Thinking of You or even Father's Day cards. Just let your creativity soar. The DT has been showing some great ideas & techniques for ways to use these dies. So if you missed any check back on the Blog.

Today for your viewing pleasure, I am featuring the Leaping Lion die and created a birthday card. This one is going off to my grandson who has a birthday next week. So let's get started on some details of how I created my card.

Design Steps:

I started my card this week with the layout. I saw this sketch #841 on Splitcoaststampers and like all the layers in it. It gives me a chance to use my collection of designer papers.
Next, I made my selection of designer papers and that determined the card colors. I chose some patterns that are festive and I thought would work well for this birthday card. Smooth sailing so far!
Black Card Base: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"
Background Designer Paper Layer: 4 1/8" x 5 3/8"
Dotted Paper Layer: - used 3rd largest Rectangle die (2 3/4" x 3 3/4")
Teal Layering Panel: - used 2nd largest Stitched Rectangle die \ (2 7/8" x 3 7/8")
White Image Panel: - used largest Rectangle die (3 1/8" x 4 1/8")

Then I cut the leaping lion in coordinating colors to the cardstock.
Stamped my sentiment on the white rectangle piece. It's element 3 of the sketch. I rounded the original panel and then my ink smeared. So I cut another rectangle and then forgot to round the corners on this cut.
Now that all my elements are prepared I am ready to start card assembly. I attached the background designer paper to the black card base.
Then I added the Leaping Lion to the stamped sentiment panel. I used glue dots and Ranger multi medium matte adhesive to secure.
I attached the other panels to the card base using double sided tape.  For element 5 of the sketch I used the stars from the Circus Side Show die and moved to the bottom of the image panel instead of the top. I scattered a few other smaller stars around the image panel just for added interest.
Well, that's it for me for this week. I hope I have given you an idea for another way to use this die. Next week we will be starting to show samples from our new Spring release. So make sure you check back starting Monday.

You're the Tops

Hello!  This is Sukie and today I have a fun circus themed card to share for my design team post.  I'm showcasing 4 of the die sets from the new Circus die release.  They are currently on sale in the on line store.

I went with a festive design for my slim line card.  The bold pattern was broken up by adding 3 circles from the Circle Set.  Next I nestled in the Leaping Lion, the Circus Tent, and the Prancing Pony into each of the die cut circles.  The arrow from the Circus Signs was perfect for stamping a fun sentiment.  I also stamped a couple of tickets and fussy cut them for my card.
Here are the side sets I used on my card, available in the store:

Circus Birthday!

Hello Friends

I have three little ones to make cards for and they love bright happy cards.  So this fun new release fits the bill! It just screams vibrant colors especially the wonderful primary colors.  Today, I have used 5 of the new dies to make this cute side step card.

Here is my card to share with you today!

I started my card by cutting all of the pieces out using the Leaping Lion, Balancing ElephantCircus TentCircus Side Show and Circus Signs.  Assemble them and then make your side step base.  Use some cloud DP and green card stock to cover the base.

Glue the pieces to the base arranging them as you wish and your card is complete.

Family Circus

Happy Monday!  It's Jeanne with the Monday post this week and I have a special box card that uses nine of the new Circus dies!  These dies are stupendously cute and are on sale for a limited time.

When I saw this release I thought of this sentiment that I had in my stash and never used.  I love box cards so I couldn't resist making a FULL BLOWN CIRCUS!

The card folded:

There are many tutorials out there to make box cards.  This one folds to a 5 x 7 size but it could be scaled to an A2 size by placing the elements closer together or not using as many.

I limited my colors to what I think are classic circus colors - red (two shades), yellow and blue (two shades) along with neutrals and used many of the color combinations that are on the packaging.  This cut down my choices when putting my pieces together and made it go a bit quicker.  On some cards I cut everything in white and color with either Copic markers or Distress Oxide ink.  On others I use colored cardstock.  I employed all three techniques on this card!

Although I had a fun sentiment for the front flap, if you do not have  a sentiment you could easily place either the megaphone and "Show Time" or the arrow and "Big Top" across the front while using more of the Circus Snacks (cotton candy and corn dog) on the other small flap.

The juggling monkey may be my favorite item in the box.  To create the illusion of the clubs in the air I used a 1 1/4 inch acetate circle behind him and glued the clubs to that.  If you look closely at this photo you can see it.  Since he is standing on one foot, I also stabilized him by gluing an acetate strip to his back.

Here are a few more details of the box.

This box could also be done with just the clown dies.  The Clown with Balloons could be made to juggle just like the monkey!

In my extended family we don't exchange birthday gifts, so I love making special cards like this one.  These are my gifts to the people I love and I know that they appreciate and cherish them.
