Bear & Bees

Hello Scrapping Cottage friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with us today. It's Mary Marsh here bringing you the Monday edition of the Blog. Hope you are all enjoying your Memorial Day weekend. Even though it's a bit different of a celebration for most of us, it's still a day to honor our veterans.

And speaking of Memorial Day there is a big sale going on to celebrate this holiday in our online store. You can save up to 70% on dies and the new Gardening release is 25% off. It's a good time to get some great prices on CottageCutz dies. These new dies are perfect for Father's Day, birthdays, thank you, or even a thinking of you card for the person who loves to garden.

For my card today, I am featuring the new Golden Bear die, and I created an outdoor scene in the sun with my cute little bear. This one is a birthday card for a friend and that greeting will be on the inside of the card.

For the card colors I used the colors from the Splitcoaststampers color challenge #791. Plus you can add neutral shades and with this challenge dark green and brown are considered neutral shades. So that helped with the leaves and bear.
daffodil delight, melon mambo, calypso coral
I cut the images in the challenge colors. My background paper is from a pack of watercolored backgrounds that have been a favorite go to for me lately. I love the colors they have blended together in this pack. And, then I don't have to do any ink blending. It's all done for me with the designer paper.

I used the largest oval die to cut out the striped designer paper. My hello phrase is from an older CottageCutz set - telephone die. It's currently on a 70% off sale.

And, that's my card for today. See you next Saturday!

Garden Party

Happy Friday!  It's Jeanne with you today and I have a card featuring the Golden Bear die from the new Gardening release.  The bear isn't used in this card but the adorable beehive and bees are!
I started this card by using a sketch from Freshly Made Sketches blog.
I cut my base panel, and two inner panels from white cardstock.  The base panel I embossed using a floral embossing older and I cut the other panels using the largest of the stitched rectangle dies and the second largest of the Scalloped Stitched Rectangle dies.
I the went through my cardstock samples and chose my colors.
I cut all the pieces and used ink in the same or slightly darker shades to give some depth to the edges of the pieces.  The bees wings are cut from vellum.  I loe using vellum for wings so that they are translucent.  Art Glitter Glue allows you to glue vellum without the glue showing through.
Next, I centered and adhered the panels together.
Using the green cardstock, I cut the phrase using the Garden Phrases die.
I added it and the other elements to the center panel.  Finally, I added a few sequins.
This new release has a wonderful variety  of dies that can be used for numerous occasions.  Be sure to stop by the online store where select dies are on sale for Memorial Day!

Have a Bee-utiful Day!

Hello!  This is Sukie sharing a new project for my design team post.  I used a couple of really fun dies from the new Cottage Cutz Gardening die release.
I die cut my pieces from the Golden Bear and Potted Plants die sets. All of my die cuts were originally cut out of white card stock and then shaded with Oxide Inks.  I used the same pot for all 3 of the potted plants for a coordinated look to the larger, upside down pot.
My card base was also inked with the Oxide Inks and then layered with a honeycomb stencil.  The stamped sentiment was a nice compliment for the scene on my card.
Two of the potted plants were adhered on each edge of my card.  The third pot was nestled next to the pot on the left side of my card leaving the perfect amount of space for the bear.
The tree branch fit perfectly between the bear and the stamped sentiment.  The hanging bee hive is absolutely adorable.
A pair of adorable buzzing bees were perfect for surrounding the bee hive and completing the sweet scene.
Here are the die sets used on my card, available in the store:
