Be My Valentine

Hello!  This is Sukie and today I'm sharing a set of Valentine's cards for my guest designer post.  With Valentine's Day tomorrow, these are perfect to share with that special someone especially an animal lover.
These sweet puppies were die cut from the Puppy with Valentine and Puppy Love Letter dies.  The sentiment, banner and hearts are from the Be My Valentine Puppies die set.  I also cut out two circles from the Stitched Circle Set and two squares from the Double Stitched Square Set.
I went with a black, white and red theme for my card so the die cuts came together very quickly.  The puppies were cut with neutral shaded card stock.  A bit of Glossy Accents were added to the eyes and noses of the puppies.
The puppies were centered perfectly on the white circles.  After I adhered the tiny hearts next to the puppies, I decided to cut the black circles with my electronic die cutter for a frame.  The patterned papers are from the My Minds Eye "Charmed" 6x6 paper pad.  I love the row of neutral hearts amongst the black hearts.
The sentiment banner was adhered along the top edge of the die cut squares so that it would be centered above the puppies.
The finished die cuts were layered on the base of my card.  The sweet puppies are the perfect focal point for these Valentine's cards.
Here are the dies I used on my cards, available here:

Mother's Day Release Design Team Samples (Part 2)

Hello Scrapping Cottage friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit today. We have a brand new release of Mother's Day  at 25% off the retail price.

There are 22 dies in this release that includes 3 Mothers Day phrase dies. All the other dies could be used year round for a variety of occasions.  We have had a good response when we do a group post on a new release. It gives you the opportunity to see more card samples from the Design Team. So we are continuing that again this month.

There are 3 samples for today and later in the month, we will post another set of 3 samples. Plus the design team will be featuring these dies in their posts over the next couple of weeks.

Card 1: This first sample is from Janja Albrecht. She used the super cute Breakfast in Bed die to create her fabulous card. What Mom doesn't want to be treated like a queen on her special day? And, giving her a card like this can be part of your breakfast in bed treat?

She framed her image with some CottageCutz scalloped stitched square dies and a corner ribbon - so sweet.

This die could be used on Mom's birthday or even as a get well card for a friend who is under the weather. There is always such incredible detail in every CottageCutz die. This is what sets the company apart from other dies on the market.
Card 2: This next sample is from Lois Bak. She used the Stitched Tulip & Daisies die to create her pretty card. Her layout is perfect for displaying the pot of daisies. She framed her images and patterned paper with the double stitched square and rectangle dies.

And,  the sentiment allows it to be used for Mother's Day or another special event - birthday, thinking of you, thank you etc. Love how she added the cute little bee.
Card 3: The 3rd and final sample for today is one that I (Mary Marsh) created. I used the Orchids die to create my Mother's Day card. The color combination is from the Splitcoaststampers color challenge #686.
The layout I chose allows the orchid image to be the center of attraction. And, also allows the use of patterned paper without it getting covered up. Pink & Black make for a great Mother's Day card. Sequins and enamel dots are always a nice finishing touch.

I hope the samples shown today have sparked some ideas for a Mother's Day card or project. The new dies are all so beautiful and again they are on sale for a limited time.

There is also a sale going on today to celebrate National Scrapbooking Day. You can save up to 50% on some dies until 9:00 pm tonight. Check it out here.

Friendly Llamas

Hi, Lois here today with another card using one of the CottageCutz Llamas and Botanicals dies.  You might want to check them out while they're still 25% off.  I used the die with two llamas for my card.  Again, I used one of Splitcoaststampers old sketch challenge layouts as my starting point . . .

. . . rotating it for my card.

To begin, I cut all the elements of the Llamas die from white cardstock.

I then colored the pieces with my Copic markers and "built" my llamas.

Then I cut my cardstock as follows:

Turquoise cardstock - 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored at 4 1/4"
                                    3 1/2" x 2 1/2"
White cardstock - 4" x 4" and 3 1/2" x 4"
Dark patterned paper - 3 1/4" square
Light patterned paper - 3 3/8" x 2 3/8"

From the two small white pieces of cardstock, I cut the largest Double-stitched Square and the 2nd largest Double-stitched Rectangle.

I then constructed my card following the sketch.

After stamping the small sentiment at the top right-hand corner of the yellow panel, I placed foam pop-dots behind the two llamas and placed them on the card, adding a bit of shadowing beneath them with a gray marker.  My card was complete.
