Husky and The Tree

Hi!

It's Anja here. Today I have a card with the new Dakota the Husky design. Such a cute die, only available in The Scrapping Cottage store. And I decided to combine it with the Christmas tree.

For this card I used:
- Cottage Cutz dies (Dakota The Husky, Handmade Twig Tree, Happy Holidays Greeting),
- Distress Inks (Pumice Stone, Black Soot, Pine Needles, Fired Brick, Spun Sugar, Vintage Photo, Walnut Stain, Tea Dye, Old Paper),
- white card base (15x15 cm),
- white card stock for die cuts and background (12,5x12,5 cm),
- patterned paper for the sentiment and background (14x14 cm),
- white and brown foam,
- black pen,
- paper glue.

First I cut and colored the lovely husky. I used black pen for the eyes and make up applicator for the chicks.

Then I cut and colored all the pieces for the tree.

I also used colored foam to cut the husky and the base of the tree and then later the greeting. I used the foam to add some dimension. I glued the colored husky and the tree to the foam.

Then I cut the paper for the background. I used white and patterned paper. Then I colored the edges with Distress Ink.

I cut the sentiment from the patterned paper. I again used Distress Ink around the edges. Then I glued the sentiment on the cut foam.

In the end I just glued everything on the card base and my card was finished.

You can find this lovely Dakota the Husky die in the store. Check it out.

I'm wishing you a lovely Sunday and see you again next week.

Anja Z.

Present Under the Tree

Hello Scrapping Cottage friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with us today. It's Mary Marsh here bringing you the Saturday edition of the Blog.

We have a new release of dies over at the online store. Our Autumn 2018 dies are here with 10 new designs. They are currently 25% off for a limited time.

This week the design team has been featuring cards using the exclusive Dakota the Husky die. If you missed those cards your can see them here, here and here. The die is only available in our online store. You won't be able to buy him at any retailers who may sell CottageCutz dies.

So let's get started on some details of how I created my card.

Step 1:  When I saw this die, I thought how cute it would be to have a puppy under the tree on Christmas. So that's where I went with my card. I created an indoor scene. I chose some striped patterned paper for wall paper and a woodgrain paper to resemble wood flooring.

Step 2: I started my die cutting. The Handmade Tree w/Presents die was used for my tree. It is part of the Christmas Part 3 release. I just love these stitched dies. They are very detailed and so on trend with the farmhouse look that is all the rage right now.
I wanted the sentiment to read from Santa. I thought the Stitched Alphabet die would work for some big Santa lettering and then the from phrase would be stamped.  I die cut the letters in a medium green cardstock (gumball green).
I stamped the "from" phrase with the help of my MISTI on the same gumball green cardstock.
Dakota the Husky was cute with white and gray cardstock. I thought the Santa hat would be so right for him since he is a present.
Step 3: Now that all my card elements are cut and stamped, it's time for card assembly. I started with the card background and attached with double sided tape.

I attached my images with dimensional adhesive. I wanted more of a 3D look and have them lifted off my faux wallpaper background.
I attached the Santa Phrase on an angle for interest. Used Ranger multi medium matte as the adhesive. The from phrase sentiment was attached with dimensional adhesive.
And that's my card for this week. I hope I have given you an idea for using our new Dakota the Husky die.
Tune in again tomorrow because Anja will have another really cute sample for your viewing pleasure.

See you next Saturday!

Merry Christmas from Dakota

Hi, Lois here with my regular Monday post.  The Scrapping Cottage (CottageCutz) has a die in its new Christmas release that is available ONLY on their website.  It will not be available from any other outlets.  Called Dakota the Husky, some of the design team members will be featuring him on our cards this week.  He is really cute!

I used the version of Dakota wearing his Santa hat on my card -- along with some new Christmas plaid paper I just bought last week.

I started my card by cutting out the die pieces from white cardstock.

I then colored him with Copic markers and put him together.

My cardstock measurements are as follows:

White - 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4"
Red - 5 1/4" x 4"
Plaid - 5 1/8" x 3 7/8"

I then cut three ovals using the Cross-Stitched Ovals set.  To save cardstock, the red oval was cut from the center of the 4" x 5 1/4" layering piece.  The plaid oval came from a scrap.

I constructed my card, layered the ovals together, and placed some adhesive foam circles on the back of the oval and Dakota . . .

. . . placing them on the front of the card.

Using a Merry Christmas phrase, I cut the sentiment from dark green cardstock.

After gluing the sentiment on the popped-up oval element, my card was complete.
