Which Way to the Candy?

Happy Friday Cottage Cutz fans!  It's Jeanne today and I have a fun Halloween card featuring an adorable ghost trick-or-treater from the new Halloween release!  I love this new release - there are some really sweet Halloween images and I'm a cute Halloween (as opposed to scary Halloween) kind of gal.

This card features the Trick or Treat Ghost die and along with a few previously released dies.  I started by cutting all my pieces from various colors of cardstock.  I took my candy colors from Halloween candy themed paper I'm using for behind my ghost.

I cut a panel 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inches from a coordinating Halloween text paper, a panel 1 3/4 x 5 1/2 inches from black cardstock and a circle from the candy paper using the third largest of the Stitched Circles dies.

I adhered the black panel to the right side of the card front and glued the candy randomly down the side.  The sentiment is placed in the lower left with the top of the "T" in "Trick" 1 1/2 inches from the bottom and 1/4 inch from the left.

Next I adhered my ghost to the circle leaving most of his balloon above the circle.

I cut the circle and placed the ghost so you could see the candy corn in the paper since that ties in the die cut candy colors.

I used foam dots to pop the circle up off the card front and glued the bat in the upper left.  (I love those big eyes on the bat!)

Finally, I added sequins as a little "eye candy" and sparkle!

I hope you enjoyed my card today.  Be sure to visit the online store for the Columbus Day Sale where these and other dies are on sale for a limited time!  There is a brand new release a Christmas dies as well!

It's a Halloween Party!

Happy Friday Cottage Cutz fans!  It's Jeanne today and I have a fun card using dies from the new Halloween release.  Someone in this camper is having a party and I think they left their cauldron outside!

I started by die cutting the camper, cauldron, ghosts and bats from the Spooky Camper and the Spooky Witch House dies.  These two are perfectly sized to coordinate with each other.  I used various colors of cardstock and shaded only the fire by using a sponge and orange ink.

I cut the trees in black from a Christmas die (think outside the box when using your dies!)  The Merry Christmas w/Deer Family die.

For the background I used a pre-printed card from a card kit that I received this summer.  The cards are all night skies - perfect for Halloween cards!

The ground is a piece a black cardstock cut to 2 1/8 x 4 1/4 inches.

I glued the ground leaving the top edge open so I could slip in the trees.  Then I glued this down and added the sentiment from Halloween Phrase and More.

I adhered the camper and added the cauldron using foam dots to pop it up from the card.

I think my favorite part of this card is the kitty in the door window.  Although she's from the Spooky Witch House die she fits just perfect in the camper window!

No Tricks, Just Treats

Happy Friday everyone!  It's Jeanne today with a quick, clean and simple card for Halloween.  I love Halloween; not the ghoulish things but all the cute Halloween things - the black kitties, jack-o-lanterns, cute ghosts, trick or treaters, etc.  This card features just such a cute ghost and jack-o-lantern.
I started by making an A2 card base from black cardstock.  I then cut a panel 4 x 5.25 inches from Halloween designer paper.  I used the largest of the stitched rectangle dies to cut a panel from white cardstock.
I used scraps of Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive and white to cut the pieces from the Happy Ghost and Halloween Phrase and More die.
I glued my image together on my silicone mat.  Using the mat allows me to glue all the pieces together without fear of them sticking to whatever is underneath.  The eyes are colored with a fine tip multi-liner pen.
Next, I glued all my panels together and laid the ghost and pumpkin on the white panel so I could get the right placement for the words.  To make sure the words are straight I will use a ruler and my grid paper.  My ruler has a cork backing and does not slip so I can place it straight across my card and use it as a guide for the word.

Finally I popped the ghost off the card with foam dots.
I still felt it needed something so I added a few matte black sequins.

Happy Haunted Halloween!

Happy Wednesday CottageCutz friends! It's Janet and I'm here today to show you a card I made in honor of my second most favorite holiday, Halloween!

CottageCutz has gotten another outstanding new collection of Halloween dies ready just in time for all your creative naughtiness. Fortunately no candy is ever harmed in the making of our fun Halloween projects. Well, no candy that survives to tell the tale anyway!

Today's card features a super versatile set of Halloween phrases called Halloween Phrase & More. It's "more" because in addition to four cute phrases, there are also four icons that could be used on your planners, tags and just about anything your tell-tale heart desires. The spooky haunted house is also new and it's called Ghost House. I love working with the CottageCutz silhouette-style dies like this one. With one pass and a single color of card stock, you are ready to start creating your project. They also work great when you want to use a patterned background because they always enhance your scene without adding a lot of colors to compete for your eye's attention.

I had so much fun creating this project for you. Click on the video thumbnail below to learn how you can make your own or inspire you to put your twist on it.
Please note that the store is currently on hold while their warehouse is in the process of being moved to larger digs to serve you better. Today's dies will be available when the store opens again on September 20th. But don't get scared. The store will be back in a frog's leap. Until then, jot down your wish list items and stop by again to place your order.

I hope you finish out the week strong and don't forget to check back every day for some more fall ideas. It's guaranteed to be a scary good time!

Hugs,
Janet
