Hello from the CottageCutz Lighthouse

Hello, and welcome to the Scrapping Cottage Blog!  This is Beverly Polen from Guneaux Designs, and I am a guest designer today.  Before I share information about my "Hello from the CottageCutz Lighthouse" card, let me remind you that the Scrapping Cottage Memorial Day Sale ends at 9:00 p.m. PDT tonight!  Dies are on sale for up to 40% off, so don't miss out on getting dies you have been wanting!

My card share with you today features the CottageCutz Hello Phrase die, which is a newly released word die from the CottageCutz Expressions Plus collection.  There are 35 of these new word dies and they are on sale for 25% off until tonight!  Here is my card:

My "Hello from the CottageCutz Lighthouse" card also features other CottageCutz dies:  the CotttageCutz Lighthouse die, Stitched Wide Circle Frame Set dies, Cottage Cutz Lighthouse w/ Clouds die, and CottageCutz Seagulls in Flight Die.

These are the steps I followed to make this "Hello from the CottageCutz Lighthouse" card.

  • Using the CottageCutz Lighthouse die, I cut out the lighthouse in white, red, blue, green, gray, and yellow card stock and assembled the pieces.
  • I used the CottageCutz Stitched Wide Circle Frame Set dies to cut several circle frames and a circle from a 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" piece of white card stock.
  • I glued the circle frames together to create dimension.
  • Using the circle that was cut out from the 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" piece of card stock, I colored a sky, rock cliff, and ocean on it.  I added Liquid Applique in selected area and heat set it.

  • I cut out three "hello" sentiments using the CottageCutz Hello Phrase die and blue card stock. I glued them together, covered the sentiment with VersaMark Ink and Clear Embossing Powder, and heat set it.
  • I began assembling my card by cutting a 4-1/2" x 5-3/4" piece of blue card stock to which I glued the 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" piece of white card stock with the circle cut out.
  • To this piece I attached both the circle frames and colored circle piece inside the cut out circle.
  • Lastly, I added the lighthouse, seagulls, and hello sentiment to the above piece.  Then I attached that to a 4-3/4" x 6" white card base.

Expressions Plus Precious Phrase

Hello, Scrapping Cottage friends and thank you for stopping by. This is Beverly Polen and I am a guest designer today for the Scrapping Cottage Blog.  Today I am featuring one of the beautiful, recently released Expressions Plus Design Dies, "Precious" and the CottageCutz Pram Die from the April CottageCutz Baby Designs Release.

Before I discuss the card, I want you to know that the Scrapping Cottage has a MEMORIAL DAY SALE going on!!!  Click on the below to review the sale items.

I love the new CottageCutz script dies as they are made with such a beautiful font.  They are also a wonderful size.  The "precious" die used on this card is approximate 4"W x 1"H.   And the darling vintage baby carriage, also showcased on this card, is an awesome die.  One can make so many variations of the carriage by using different colors of card stock and other crafting products.  I wanted to dress this one up, so I added pearls and sparkling glitter.  May this card inspire you to try the CottageCutz Pram die to create such a beauty!

SUPPLIES USED AND STEPS FOR CREATING THE CARD

Supplies:

Steps:
  • Cut a 6" x 12" piece of pink card stock and fold it in the middle for the card base
  • Cut a 6" x 6" piece of designer paper with shades of pink and green
  • Adhere the 6" x 6" designer paper to the front of the card base
  • Using the CottageCutz Pram Die, cut the baby carriage from a piece of white card stock, and repeat with pink card stock
  • Adhere the pieces together (I attached one carriage to another to offset mine)
  • Cover the center piece of the carriage with white sparkly glitter
  • Add crafting pearls to the carriage
  • Attach this to the center of the card front (as seen in the first photo)
  • Cut out several pink flowers using the CottageCutz Tree of Nature Die
  • Cut out several green stems and leaves using the CottageCutz Grass, Trees & Vines die
  • Attach the flowers to the stems
  • Add pink stickles to the center of the flowers
  • Add the stems and flowers to the bottom and left side of the card
  • Cut out the "precious" sentiment from pink card stock using the CottageCutz Precious Die and add it to the top center of the card
  • Cut out a flower using the CottageCutz 3-D Flower #7 die
  • Shape with a stylus the three smallest flowers, cover them with a white glitter, adhere them together, and add Prills to the center

  • Attach the flower to the bottom, right of the card front

That finishes the card, and there are more photos below.  Let me know what your thoughts are about this card by leaving comments.  I love reading comments!  Before you go, I want to share more information with you about the newly release Expression Plus Designs Dies.

The Expression Plus Design Dies (35 word dies) were released just two weeks ago, and the font of these dies is beautiful! The word dies are definitely ones you will want for your crafting toolbox! To give you an idea of the size and font of these dies, our video artist, Janet, prepared the video below that showcases some of the Expression Plus Design Dies.

CottageCutz Gladiolus Flower & Hello Phrase

Hello, Scrapping Cottage Friends!  So glad you took time to stop by and enjoy my card share today. I am Beverly Polen, Guneaux Designs, and I am serving as a guest designer today.  My card share showcases one of the newly released Expression Plus Designs dies (i.e., word dies), and the beautiful CottageCutz Gladiolus Flower.

The new Expression Plus Designs dies are fantastic!  I love the script design, and the die cuts are a great size.  If you have not checked them out, you can by visiting the Scrapping Cottage On-Line Store.  For a limited time, these wonderful dies are 25% off!  Don't miss out!!

My color selections of card stock and coloring were selected to coincide with the Splitcoaststampers Color Challenge for yesterday.  These are the colors:  shades of peach/orange and dark green.

I created my card by first stamping with black ink the CottageCutz Gladiolus Flower image onto white card stock and coloring it with copics that are close to the above colors.  I used the matching die to cut out the floral image.

Afterwards, I decided I wanted to create an inlay with the image, so I used the negative of the floral image and a die from CottageCutz Cross-Stitched Rectangle Set to cut a rectangle.  Additionally, my butterfly from the same floral stamp and die set was on this panel and I wanted to include it.

My next step was to use a stencil and oxide inks to create this panel from white card stock.

I decided I wanted a piece of designer paper for a mat for the panel.  I attached the mat to the panel and adhered it to my card base.

I created a frame to go around the floral panel with two of the CottageCutz Cross-Stitched Rectangle Set dies.  I attached foam tape to the frame and added it to the card.

Then I added foam tape to the floral image inlay panel and attached it inside the frame.

To complete the card, I added one of the Expression Plus Design script dies, hello, to the upper left of my card.

I hope you draw inspiration from my card, and come back tomorrow to see the artwork we have to share.
