Aloha Friday!

Aloha!  It's Jeanne today with a hello/thinking of you card with a tropical twist.  This card uses one of the new slimline dies.  This release is wonderful with a great selection of dies.  It features awesome background dies which can be on their own or to highlight dies that you already own!  I found this leafy background was the perfect backdrop for one of my favorite dies from last summer.  To make things even better, the new slimline release is on sale right now for a limited time!

I started this card by creating a blended background in several shades of green by using Distress Oxide inks and blending brushes.

Next I cut a panel using the Leafy Background Slimline die.  I edged the outside and several of the leaves with a darker green ink.

My flowers are from Tropical Bouquet and I used various colors of cardstock to cut them.  I inked the edges to get a bit of depth.

I cut the word Aloha from the Aloha & Ukulele die.  I cut one from gold foil and three from a dark brown cardstock.

To complete the background I adhered my leaves to a dark green panel cut from the largest of the Nested Rectangles Slimline from the first slimline release.  I stacked all the "aloha" words placing the gold foil on top.

I placed my flowers in the corners....

and my sentiment at an angle between them.  This card reminds me of the aloha shirts my husband has with the dark background, light foliage and bright flowers.  A reminder of the islands!

Aloha Summer

Hello Scrapping Cottage Friends

It is Pam on the Throwback Tuesday blog today!

We have a new release that are complete must haves for your basic die collection.  It is a Slimline group with 9 different designs.  They are 25% off right now so don't miss out on this great addition to your essential must have dies.

Our design team will be doing a few weeks of Throwback Tuesdays!  We will be highlighting some of our favorite dies that are still available in the online store from past collections.  I am using a die from our Beach & Tropical release.  The dies are called Hibiscus Flowers and Aloha & Ukulele.  I mixed these two dies with our  Scalloped Stitched Rectangle Slimline.

Just a quick description,  I used a white slimline card base.  Cut a piece of kraft card stock with the largest
Scalloped Stitched Rectangle Slimline twice.  Glue one to the front of the card and save the other.  Then I used a variety of colors and cut out the hibiscus using the Hibiscus Flowers die
Next I cut out 3 Aloha in white using the Aloha & Ukulele die.  I glued the Aloha words together.  I arranged the flowers and glued them down also tucking in the leaves.  The final step was to glue down the Aloha and add a few sequins
I had an extra flower and some leaves so I glued the kraft scalloped retangle to the inside and added the flower to the lower left of the card.  I stamped my sentiment and the card is complete

Thanks for stopping by today!  I hope you enjoyed our Throwback Tuesday!  I love looking through my older dies and putting them to use again!

You Are Sweet

Hi!

It's Anja here. I have another summer inspired card for you today.

For this card I used:

- Cottage Cutz dies (Tropical Fruit, Aloha & Ukulele, Nested Wacky Stitched Square Set),

- Distress Inks,

- craft card base (15x15 cm),

- watercolor paper for background (13x13 cm),

- white card stock for die cuts,

- sentiment stamp,

- black pigment ink,

- acrylic block,

- water spritzer,

- heat gun,

- paper glue.

First I cut and colored the ukulele and the cocktail.

Next I did the fruit.

Then I started on the background. I smooched the paper on the glass surface. Prior to that I tapped two shades of Distress Ink and spritzed it with water. I dried the paper with the heat gun.

Then I cut a square out of the paper. I used the biggest square die from the set. I glued the square frame on the card base. And then I added the sentiment.

When I added all the other cut and colored pieces my card was done.

That's all from me for today. Have a nice Sunday and see you again next week.

Anja Z.
