I received some wonderful CottageCutz dies in the mail this week from the Halloween Release at The Scrapping Cottage. Here's my card for today...
Isn't this little costumed puppy the sweetest little Halloween pup ever?
I used Basic Grey Paper and combined it with some glittery orange card stock, along with some of my favorite embellishments and ribbon.
Here's a closer look at this cutie. I cut him out with white card stock and colored him in with Copic markers. I didn't get a photo of my markers this time, but for the puppy, I used C1, C3, and C5, and for the spots and hat, I used C1-C9. The hatband is done with V01,V04, V06, and V09. The moon and star were both colored with Y21 and shaded with Y23. After I had this all colored, I added some sponging to the edges with Tim Holtz distress ink in vinatge photo.
Now, a look at the CottageCutz dies I used with direct links to find them in the store.
Love everything about this card Lori! It is super cute and not over-done. Ribbon has so many other uses than being tied in a bow--I love the way you used it here! Thanks again for including what Copics you used.
ReplyDeleteI have a question. Do you go out and buy the Copics you need for a specific project, or do you buy them in sets? Just wondering what my strategy should be in choosing amongst the huge array of colors when I find them on sale.
Awesome Card--Thanks so much.

nbuston - Thanks so much for your kind comment. To answer your question, I like to buy them individually. If you notice, I stay within the same color family as in R-Red, C-Cool Gray, B-Blue. I usually use at least three colors in a color family, and I jump the number up at least two or three between each color. For example, on the puppy's hat band, I used the "V" series, which is violet, and I started with the lightest color, V01, then jumped to the V04, followed by V06 and V09. If you use this theory whenever you choose your colors, you'll always have successful blending. I like to buy my markers the same way, about 3 or 4 at a time. I've found with the sets that they usually include a lot of markers that don't necessarily blend well together, which discourages many people, because they think it's them, when actually, it's just not the right combination of markers. Thanks for your question, and I hope that helps. ~Lorie
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh this is just as sweet as can be. The way you intertwined the border in with the ribbon is superb. This is fabulous.
