Just Because...

I made a card using the COTTAGECUTZ WITCH ON BROOM DIE SC-CC4x4-082-D. I have tried to show how versatile this die can be, by changing the witches appearance and turning her into a Fairy. I replaced the witches hat and used the QUICKUTZ ROSE BUD DIE KS-0451 for her head dress. For her wings in used the COTTAGECUTZ BEE DIE SC-CC3x3-001 that I cut from transparent velum paper, and she is sitting on the tree trunk from the COTTAGECUTZ RACOON & TREE TRUNK DIE SC-CC4x4-014. The fence in the background is made from the latest COTTAGECUTZ FARM FENCE DIE CC3x3-023.
The mice are from the QUICKUTZ EXCLUSIVE PRINCESS CARRIAGE DIE, and I have also used the QUICKUTZ MUSHROOMS DOUBLE KS DIE, and the QUICKUTZ STRAWBERRY DIE KS-0110.

Autumn Splendor

This week I have been really paying
great attention to all of the changing
colors and to the wonderful signs of fall.

I was inspired to create a fall border for
some pictures I took of my children playing
in a pile of colorful leaves on our front lawn!

School Days Mini Album

I think the new Quickutz Santa's Workshop Gift Set is so fun!! When I first saw it, I was afraid that the albums were going to be too small. Boy was I wrong!! They are perfectly sized for quick and easy mini albums!!

The Peppermint Album is a really nice size! The pages are 3.75 inches wide and 5.5 inches tall. I chose it to use to create my School Days album. I have created a two-page spread for every grade Kindergarten through Senior Year of High School. Now, all I will have to do each year is pop in the new photos and add a few notes and that's it!

I can't wait to see how my daughter changes over the years. I think this is going to be such a fun mini album and so easy to keep current because the album is already finished! I just have to add the updates each year. Anything I can do to make myself feel "up to date" is great!! ;)

I used Imaginesce papers and some other Quickutz dies to embellish the pages and book cover. The little page tab is one of the extra cookie cutter dies that comes in the new Gift Set. How cute is that!! I love it! Lots of other fun little surprises in the Gift Set so be sure to check them out at the Scrapping Cottage! Quantities are limited and once they're gone - they're gone!! So you don't want to miss out!

Watch for it Wednesday #33!!

Hearts of Thankfulness
Our family has a very meaningful
and memorable tradition that
we follow every November and I
wanted to share it with all of you.

Every November I brighten our home
with festive harvest decorations and
we focus on the character quality of
Thankfulness.

I created a special container that I leave on
our kitchen table for the whole month. In
front of "Our Thankfulness" canister I
leave a pile of colorful notecards that I
made out of bazzill paper with inked edges!

Anytime that a member of our family or
any visitor to our home desires, they have
a wonderful opportunity to write down
a few things that they are thankful for. On
Thanksgiving Day, all of the precious notes
are read and our family is dearly blessed
to see all that we have and all that we are
grateful for. It brings the true meaning of
Thanksgiving to light and helps us to
appreciate all that we have been blessed with.

You can use a variety of containers to create a
thankfulness box. I chose to use a Quaker Oats
oatmeal container. I just decorated it with festive
paper and a few beautiful CottageCutz harvest
dies. My family and I have a lovely place to share
our love and gratitude for many years to come!

Happy Fall Y'all

When I saw Rochelle post her Crow tag last week I thought "oh, now I've got to wait to post mine". I decided that since my card had the message "Happy Fall Y'all" on it I'd better post it anyway since fall is quickly approaching winter here in Utah where we had snow last week.
Fortunately this week is supposed to me more fall like again.
These CottageCutz crows are so cute and like Rochelle mentioned last week they go together so quickly. I thought it would be fun to mount them on top of the Quickutz Scarecrow for a smile.
I added a little bit of Black Diamond Stickles to the indent marks to highlight them a bit.
I love fall and I'm excited to work with these wonderful Autumn CottageCutz dies this month.
Be sure to check them out at the Scrapping Cottage.

TRICK OR TREAT!!

Halloween has come and gone but I can continue to enjoy the memories and all of the fun while I scrapbook my pictures with my CottageCutz Halloween Dies.

This layout is last years pictures of my two darling grandsons. Luckily for me , I waited to scrapbook the page, so I could use my Halloween CottageCutz dies to embellish my page.

For this layout I used CottageCutz dies Trick or Treat, the Witch Legs, one of the pumpkins from Build-a-Jack and the cauldron from the Witch with the Cauldron.

If you look closely at the witches potion in the cauldron and the fire you will see it has a three dimensional cracked finish. To get this effect, I used Ranger's Crackle Accents. I also applied it to the buckle on the witch shoes and on the stars in the title Trick or Treat! It's a great way to accent your CottageCutz Dies!!!

Fun and Quick Photo Book

Normally I am a layout girl, but with Halloween fast approaching, I have been feeling very crafty. I think it must be all the super cute decorations I see as I am driving through my neighborhood. Or maybe it is the stack of adorable Cottage Cutz Halloween dies sitting on my scrapbook table to inspire me every time I sit down to work. Whatever it is, I wanted to create something a little different today.

I purchased some of those $1.00 plastic photograph albums in Walmart the other day to use for brag books. Well, of course the covers that come in those are weird and not very fun. So I pulled out the front piece of paper and covered it up and this was the result...

I used velvety brown paper to cut the piece of caramel for the top of my apple. Then I sprayed it with a mixture of perfect pearls (*tip coming soon!!*) to give it some sparkle like real caramel. Now you just slip the new and improved into the plastic sleeve and voila - quick and easy upgrade to an otherwise boring photo holder. I scanned my new cover so that you could see the caramel apple detail better.

Cottage Cutz dies just make everything better!! Get your orders in now for your Christmas Cottage Cutz dies and be sure to include the Limited Edition Gingerbread House and Christmas Shoppe in your basket! You don't want to miss out on these for sure!

Watch for it Wednesdays!! #32

I actually had a different technique all worked up to share today for my Watch for it Wednesday post, but I decided it was really better suited for a November project so you'll have to wait a few weeks for that one :)

The tip I would like to share today is one that I used just this week and LOVED it! I really like to use buttons on my scrapbooking projects, but I hate having to stop working to thread my buttons each time. So one night this week I was sitting in bed listening to the TV and I decided to grab a handful of buttons and start threading them. Since it is Halloween, I grabbed buttons in Halloween colors and cut some black thread to use inside of them. This was a simple, mindless activity I could do at night when I am too tired to scrapbook but not ready to go to sleep yet.

Today, I was working on a Halloween mini album and I pulled out my little stash of pre-threaded buttons to use. I can't tell you how great it was to just be able to grab a button and glue it on without having to stop and thread it up each and every time wanted to add a button to a page. Plus, I wasn't tempted to just stick them on "naked" to save time because I had already done the work at a more convenient time.

Here is a picture of some of the buttons I pre-threaded to have on hand for my Halloween projects.

You could use this trick with Christmas-colored buttons, too. Just choose a neutral thread color or use a couple of different colors and you'll always have some buttons ready to go!

Trick or Treat!

I couldn't resist doing a layout this time since this Trick or Treat die is just perfect for those pictures of your kids ready to go Trick or Treating or just getting back from raking in all that candy. Since my kids are a bit old for Trick or Treating I decided to scrap a picture of my friends two daughters from last Halloween. This makes a great page title.

I cut it out in black and then the stars in purple and added some Stickles to match Amy's sparkly witch hair.

I also used the witch hat die again with the little spider that also has glittery eyes.

I'm sad that Halloween will be coming to a close this week, these dies have been so fun to work with, but never fear there's always a new CottageCutz release near.

Which witch is which??

I am so in love with these CottageCutz
because they allow me to make decorations
that I could never buy at a store!

I bought a little black table decoration
with shimmering ghosts all around! I
thought that this would be the perfect
place to launch a new witch!!

I say "new" witch because out of the two
incredible CottageCutz "witch" dies
has come a third enchantress! I combined
elements from each die to make a new
wicked witch of the west!

As the Crow Flies...

I love this Creepy Raven from the Halloween Cottage Cutz Release. He is the perfect addition to any Halloween project where you want to add a real spooky touch. Lots of Halloween papers are fun and whimsical and but there are plenty of other Halloween paper lines, where only the spooky will do. So it is nice to have diecuts that coordinate with both.

For this Halloween card, I decided to use some Bazzill Bling cardstock for the Raven's body. The extra bit of sheen and shine really adds to the spooky feel. I also used pop dots behind him to give some added interest to my main character. Otherwise, the tones of the papers are muted for a more eery feel.

It's not too late to order some of the "fangtastic" Halloween Cottage Cutz dies in time for all your Halloween projects and decorations! Visit the Scrapping Cottage today!

WATCH FOR IT WEDNESDAY #31

Detailing Diecuts
The CottageCutz broom die was used on this card and boy is it a great die to detail, and easy too! All of the markings you see come through when you cut out the die.

First I took my Copic Ciao markers and colored in the markings on the cut out pieces.

Then I took my Distress Ink and a dauber and shaded around the edges. I used the Scotch Mounting Tape to make this piece raised on the broom.

I glued the pieces together and wallah! You have detailed broom ready for your card, layout or other project. I couldn't resist using this cute little spider from the Witch Hat die...again!

Check back tomorrow for Ruth Ellen's project!

Spoooooky Trees

Shadows of a thousand years rise again unseen,

voices whisper in the trees,

"Tonight is Halloween!"

Dexter Kozen

To make this card I used my brayer and some ink on glossy cardstock to make a night glowing scene. Then I cut out the Cottage Cutz Spooky Tree three times and glued these to my glossy piece. I had to have this cute little CottageCutz ghost peeking out from this haunted forest.

Remember when you are using your diecuts that you can cut it out multiple times and create a scene rather than just using it once.

I was so impressed how this tree punched out. Each piece cut perfectly and I used my paper piercer to help punch out the curly parts of the tree from the cardstock.

Whether you're using these wonderful CottageCutz Halloween dies to make your Halloween projects or saving them for your layouts after the big day you're sure to love them!
