White Llama

Hi, Lois here with a really quick and easy card today.  While the CottageCutz design team is waiting for the next release, we have been using previously released dies during our "throwback month."  I used Traveling Llama and Spring Grass today.  The other day while I was in Hobby Lobby, I saw some cool llama patterned paper and decided to build my card around it.

I started by cutting the llama from a scrap piece of white cardstock.  I decided that my llama was not "traveling" today, so I didn't use any of the suitcases.

I colored him with Copic markers and glued him together.  One of the things I really like about CottageCutz dies is the details -- like the tassels on the strap

I then cut my cardstock.

Red - 4 1/4" x 11" scored at 5 1/2"; 2 1/2" x 4"
Brown - 1 1/2" x 4"
Llama patterned paper - 3" x 4"
Sky patterned paper - 2 3/8" x 3 7/8"

I also cut a strip of grass using the Spring Grass die.

I then constructed my card base, adding a strip of ribbon over the seam of brown/llama paper pieces.

I adhered the llama with foam pop dots onto the smaller panel and added the strip of grass, trimming on each side to fit.  I then stamped some birds in the sky.

I glued the llama panel to the card, and I was finished.

Traveling Llama!

Good Morning Scrapping Cottage Crafters!

Hello it is Pam sharing on the blog today! We don't have a new release of dies for July,  so we are having a throwback month.  The team will be featuring some of our previously released dies to give you some fresh ideas for using them.

Since it is vacation time for a many families I thought it would be fun to make a travel related card.  My niece is going on short mission trip with her church. She is heading to El Salvador to work with children and share her love of singing to the Lord!  So this card is dedicated to her.

Design Steps:

 1.  Cut all of the pieces from the Traveling Llama in white card stock
 2.  Use your markers and color the pieces.  I find it easier to color the smaller pieces while they are still attached to the larger piece of white card stock
 3.  After all of the pieces are colored assemble the llama
 4.  Use an A2 white card base, cut a slightly smaller piece of red then a slightly smaller piece of DP.  Use the third from the largest Pierced Rectangle die and cut out a white rectangle
 5.  Pop up the Llama onto the white rectangle
 6.  Glue the red card stock to the DP map and add the ribbon.  Then glue the panel to the front of the white card base
7.  Use the Retro Tag Toppers and cut out the pieces in tan and dark brown.  Stamp the sentiment and cut out the circle and glue the tag together
8.  Pop the rectangle with the llama to the front of the card then add the sentiment tag and your card is complete

Travelling Llamas

Hi!

It's Anja here. For today's post I couldn't go without the llamas. They are so adorable and are still available in the store for a 25 % discount. I put them in the travelling mode as they walk trough the desert in the night. I love making scenes with Cottage Cutz dies.

For this card I used:
- Cottage Cutz dies (Traveling Llama, Llamas, Potted Cactus, Pierced Circle Set),
- Distress Inks (Walnut Stain, Mowed Lawn, Forest Moss, Peeled Paint, Aged Mahogany, Fired Brick, Wild Honey, Faded Jeans, Bundled Sage, Shabby Shutters),
- Distress Oxides (Hickory Smoke, Tattered Rose, Worn Lipstick, Wilted Violet, Faded Jeans, Blueprint Sketch, Frayed Burlap, Lucky Clover, Vintage Photo, Salty Ocean, Picked Raspberry, Twisted Citron, Fossilized Citron, Seedless Preserves),
- gold pigment ink,
- white card base (11x21 cm),
- white card stock for background (10,5x20,5 cm) and die cuts,
- water spritzer,
- washi tape,
- heat gun,
- black pen,
- paper glue.

First I die cut all the pieces for the llamas and colored them with combination of Distress Inks and Oxides.

I used black pencil for the eyes.

I used only greenery from the Potted Cactus die.

I used a circle die from Pierced Circle Set to cut a circle from a piece of card stock. I used it as a stencil for the moon.

I cut a rectangle from white card stock (10,5x20,5 cm) for the background. I adhere the circle with washi tape. And I used Distress Oxides to make the night sky and ground. When  was satisfied with the colors I used water spritzer to make the stars.

I dried the surface with the heat gun. I put the stencil over the moon and put a grey colored ink over it. I also spritz it with water. I used paper towel for the access water and then dried it with the heat gun.

When I had the background ready I glued it on the card base and then adhered the llamas and the cactus and other desert greenery.

And this is my finished card.

I hope your Sunday is as relaxing as possible. I'm planing a trip with my brother and sister.

See you again next week.
Anja Z.

LLamas & Botanical Card Samples (Part 2)

Hello Scrapping Cottage friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit today. We have a brand new release of Llamas & Botanical dies available in the online store. And the dies are currently on sale for a limited time at 25% off the retail price.

The new dies have a couple of super cute Llama images as well as cactus and other succulents. And, let's not dismiss our sweet hummingbird and a great garden bird image. There are so many different ways to use these dies and the Design Team has been featuring these dies in their posts over the past 10 days. If you haven't' seen them look back over the blog for some great eye candy.

Today, I have 2 additional samples to share with you.

Card 1: This first sample is a card from Janja Albrecht. She used the Shelf w/Plants dies to create a lovely indoor scene. She has the plants nestled on a shelf against a brick wall backdrop.

It's a great card of encouragement that is sure to brighten the spirits of the one who receives it. She used the perfect encouragement sentiment on her card.

Card 2: This next sample is a card that I (Mary Marsh) created. I used the Traveling Llama die for my sample. From the moment I saw this die, I had an idea to create a card to welcome a new family to our neighborhood.
This card along with a baked loaf of banana bread or a plate of chocolate chip cookies is always appreciated. And it's a way to get to know your new neighbor.

The llama with his bags all packed and loaded just reminded me of someone that is moving in somewhere. You could also use it to let friends know you are moving. Or how about when you are sending your student off to college or to summer camp. Lots of ways to use this die and even more that I haven't thought of.
That's our card samples for today.  Hope these samples have sparked some ideas for ways to use these dies. I will have another group post on Tuesday with these new dies. And, remember they are currently 25% off for a limited time in the online store.

Happy Llama Trails To You!

Hello CottageCutz fans. Today I'm sharing a project I made with two dies from the new Llamas and Botanicals collection. This release contains thirteen new dies full of llamas, cacti and beautiful traditional birds and fauna. If you haven't noticed, Llamas, cacti and desert images are very popular right now and of course The Scrapping Cottage has lived up to the challenge with some adorable images in that theme in this release. Please check all the new dies out at the store. They are 25% off for a limited time so head on over to make your selections!

I chose to feature the Traveling Llama die with all his luggage and cute jaunty hat at the top of his load. I can't say I understand the llama trend completely but I can tell you I've fallen in love with this little character. He is so cute and detailed with all his colorful bags, saddle and harnesses. I want to reach out and give him a hug!

To give the llama more dimension I put a layer of foam tape under his saddle and the three bags. The middle blue case is on two layers of foam tape which gives the impression that it provides a platform for the final bag. To give him motion, I used an action wobble so that he trots as he goes on his merry way. He's a traveling llama after all!

To enhance the desert look, I used the Potted Cactus die cuts on both the front and inside of the card for extra fun. The cactus images are also very cute and easy to put together. I chose not to use the pots for them since the idea was that the llama was traveling and that means cactus in the ground, not in pots.

Please visit the CottageCutz YouTube channel to see this little llama in action! I show the coloring and how to piece these dies together which is helpful if you're not sure where all the pieces go. You can either click on THIS LINK or click on the video thumbnail below.

Thanks and Happy Trails To You!

- Janet
