O-fish-ally Awesome

Happy Friday!  It's Jeanne with today's card.  Before I get to my card I'd like to let you know about the wonderful Christmas in July sale that is going on right now in the online store.  You can save up to 65% on select dies!

And another big announcement - the Scrapping Cottage is now offering great stamps and coordinating dies from Lil' Bluebird Designs!  I can't wait to begin coloring and designing with these adorable images. Be sure to check them out in the online store.

Now for today's card.

A few weeks back I mentioned that I had saved an extra strip of watercolored paper (click here for those instructions) and extra fish for another card.  Well...here is that other card!  With a few extras.

I used my leftover strip and fish (I ended up using only one fish) and added a crab and jellyfish.  I struggled with what color to use for the jellyfish, then hit upon using vellum.  I love it because he really does look like a jellyfish!

Using the Circle Windows Slimline die I cut a panel from wood grain paper.  I also used the largest of the Nested Slimline Rectangles in dark brown as a backing panel because the Circle Windows die has rounded corners and I knew these would show on the card.  I cut three portholes from brushed gold cardstock using the middle of the Stitched Wide Circle Frames dies.

To get everything placed I laid the wood grain panel over the dark brown and used a pencil to outline the circles.  I then placed my water panel over this (it is slightly narrower than the circles so I could see the tops and bottoms of the circles), placed a frame over the middle circle and traced the center on the water panel.  In this way I knew exactly where to stamp my sentiment.

After gluing down the water panel, I placed the wood panel on top without adhering it. One at a time I placed my creatures underneath and gently lifted the wood panel.  I marked where to place the creature in pencil where it could not be seen.

This method allowed for me to place the critters exactly where I wanted them.  I glued the wood panel to the base and trimmed the jellyfish tentacles (they were a bit long.)  You can see here that the water strip is narrower than the height of the openings for my portholes.

But not to worry, it was covered up when I added the porthole frames.  Finally I used a few gems as rivets.  A fun card for an awesome friend.

Hoppy Easter

Hi!

It's Anja here. I have another Easter card for you today. I combined different dies from the latest release and come up with the card below.

For this project I used:

- Cottage Cutz dies (Bunnies in Pots, Hatching Bunny Chick, Bird w/Bluebells, Circle Set, Stitched Wide Circle Frame Set),

- Distress inks,

- white card base (15x15 cm),

- white card stock for die cuts,

- purple card stock for background (14,5x14,5 cm) and die cuts,

- patterned paper for background (14x14 cm),

- black pens (thinner and thicker),

- water spritzer,

- scissors,

- heat gun,

- paper glue.

First I cut and colored the bunny and all the other pieces.

Next I cut all the papers for background. I used the biggest die from the frame set.

Then I did the inside of the circle. I used smooching technique to color the background. I dried the paper with the heat gun.

Last I added the sentiment. I wrote the sentiment with a thicker black pen. And then I cut it out of the paper.

Then I arranged all the pieces on the card base and adhered it with the glue. And my card was done.

And that's all from me for today. Have a nice Sunday and see you again next week.

Just a Note

Hello!  This is Sukie and today I'm sharing this sweet card for my design team post.  I had the chance to play with this typewriter die which is absolutely adorable.  I can think of so many different uses for this die.
I die cut the Typewriter, Sweet Love Border and the Stitched Wide Circle Frame.  The "sweet" sentiment was cut twice and layered for some dimension.
I found the most perfect papers in my stash stash.  I decided to offset the circle frame for better placement on my card.
The heart border was adhered along the bottom edge of my card.  The hearts remind me of a scribble style pattern.  The typewriter fit perfectly inside the circle.
A sentiment from the Scrappy Moms (retired) "The Charmed Life" stamp set was anchored above the border on a hand cut flag.
The finishing accent on my card was a cluster of paper flowers.  A few bling stickers adorned the flower centers.
Here are the dies used on my card, available in the store:

Puppy with a gift

Hi, Janja here!

Summer is going away and nature is already flirting with autumn colors. But on my desk Christmas is still everywhere.

For the card we need:
- white scalloped card base: 5.3 x 5.3" (13,5 x 13,5 cm)
- green striped paper: 5 x 5" (12,6 x 12,6 cm)
- two patterned paper
- white and color cardstock
- Distress ink: Festive Berries, Aged Mahogany, Mowed Lawn, Peeled Paint, Black Soot

Trim green striped paper and place it on a white card base. Cut out a frame with the largest die from stitched wide circle frame set. Also cut out a circle with the largest die from the circle set.

Now we start with a puppy. We prepare cutouts from color cardstocks. Ink edges of cutouts and assemble the puppy.

On the upper part of the frame add some holiday greenery with spruce stems. Assemble poinsettia bloom and ink the edges.

Cut the tape and wrap it around the frame. Put the frame on circle and fix it with foam tape on green striped paper.

Complete the card.

The puppy is so cute, that we can use this die also for other occasions during the year.

I would like to remind you on our challenge #6 - holiday. You can get more info here.

Hope you enjoyed my post for today.
