Space Rocket Santa Slider

Happy Friday friends! 

Kris here, share with you a slimline slider card featuring the Santa Space Rocket die.  And just a li'l reminder that all of the individual dies in our Christmas 2023 Release are 30% off for a limited time!  

Pull the slider to reveal an embossed message from Santa

DESIGN STEPS:

• Start with a light teal top folding card base cut at 9" x 8" and scored in half at 4".  

• Cut a darker teal mat at 8-3/4" x 3-3/4" and adhere to card front. 

• Using the largest of the Pinking Sheer Edge Slimline dies, cut (1) from dark teal and another from a snowflake design paper.  

  --Die cut trees from the Mountains & Trees Slimline die towards the bottom of the teal layer.  (Save the top portion for another project).  Add Snow Writer (puffy snow) to the trees and set aside to dry. 

  -- From the Snowflake layer,  figure out where you want your slider channel to be and die cut the smallest of the Nested Rectangle Slimline set. (You could also use the smallest from the Rounded Rectangle Slimline set if you have that!)   Die cut the end of the die from the short edge in line with your long cut out section as shown below. 

• Cut from thick white cardstock a slider tab that is 3/4" x 8".  Cut the same from Snowflake pattern paper and adhere on top.  

  --I used a tab punch to cut the end of the tab *optional

• Cut a stabilizer piece from white c.s. at 2-3/4" x 1/2" and loosely wrap around the tab as shown.  

• Lay your snowflake patterned paper onto card front and stamp your sentiment in VersaMark in the window and heat emboss with white e.p. 

• On the back of your snowflake layer, place tab towards edge where the opening is and glue the stabilizer down between the open edge and the slimline opening.  Add 1/8" foam strips very close around the pull tab.  

 --I also angled the other end of my tab to follow the tail of my rocket so that part of the slider wasn't showing.  *optional.

• Remove tape backing and adhere to card front.

• Die cut Santa Space Rocket from white c.s., color and assemble. 

• Place rocket towards right edge of card and glue a dimensional or slider disc to the pull tab right under the middle of the rocket.

• Die cut Merry Christmas w/ Friends ... add color or shading... adhere to card front.  

DONE!

Ice Cream Truck Slider

Hello Scrapping Cottage Friends!  

Kris here with my debut as Guest Designer!  With the arrival of summer, I'm excited to be working with this new Sweet Treats release as there are so many occasions for these dies!  

I made a super easy Pull Tab Slider card using Ice Cream Truck.  

You find the list of products I used linked to the store at the end of my post.  But for ease sake I'll list them here along with some other tools needed for this project:

Design Steps:  

• We all know it's more fun to eat our dessert first.... so I started this project with the FUN stuff!  That is... cutting and piecing together my Ice Cream Truck!  I had this fun paper with blue and pink ice cream trucks, so I matched it.  

• Next, I cut my main pieces of cardstock.  
• Card base (grey) is cut at 6" x 12" and scored at 6"
• Another piece in the same color as base cut at 4-1/2" x 5-3/4"
• and a dark pink cut at 6" x 6" 

• To make the frame on the front, I measured in 1/2" on every edge (near the corners) and placed a light pencil mark.  You'll end up with 4 "X"s  near each corner.  (if you don't have an "X" then you might need to extend your 1/2" marks/lines a bit until they intersect with the one parallel.)  I then used my paper trimmer to CUT between each of those "X"s to end up with a frame.  
• Erase mark lines or turn it over to the other side ☺

• I cut a piece of white to 2" x 5-3/4" and cut the very bottom using one of the Clouds Slimline dies.

• I then cut (2) pieces of coordinating designer papers at 2" x 5-3/4" and cut the very top of each with one of the Hills Slimline dies.

• You want to add glue to the (front) sides and top (NOT the bottom)  of your cloud border and attach BEHIND your frame at the top as shown below.

• Next, we need to cut a notch out of our frame for our pull tab. (You could do this step before attaching your clouds - I just forgot to do it prior).   I used a small circle from the Pierced Wide Circle Frame Set to cut a PARTIAL CIRCLE from the LEFT edge of your frame as shown below.  It's important that you cut from the left side because it you do it on the right, your truck will be driving backwards!  ☺ 

• Now we need to cut the same notch out of our card base in the exact spot we cut the frame.  SO... you want to lay your notched frame on top of your CARD BASE making sure everything lines up and fold is at the top, then lightly draw the outline of your notch onto the card base and cut the notch using the same circle die as we did in the previous step.

• I then taped my 2 pieces of patterned paper together and added adhesive to the (front) sides and bottom (NOT the top!), then placed BEHIND my frame at the bottom ***NOTE:  lay your truck in the middle first so you know how far down to attach your patterned papers.  

• Next, I placed my 4-1/2" x 5-3/4" grey slider piece behind my frame, but FLUSH with the left hand side and centered between the top and bottom.  You can write or stamp "PULL" where the tab dips down, OR draw an arrow going to the left to let your recipient know to pull.  

• Now remove your slider piece and set it aside.

• Reminder - our frame is just sitting on our card base - it is not attached yet!  

• Decide what you want to have revealed when the truck is being pulled!   I stamped a "YUMMILICIOUS" sentiment and some confetti .  To find the placement, I laid my truck onto my card and off to the left - see photo below for placement.  Now you can see how much space you have and decide what you want to fill that space with!  ***It's best not to have too much dimension as it may prevent the truck from sliding back into place.  Flat stamped images are best!

• Now we can add our foam tape to the back.  Again, line up the slider (from the front) so that your arrow or "PULL" is lined up in the center of your notch and the edge of slider is flush with edge of frame... and the whole piece is centered between the top and bottom edges of card on the back.  To keep it in place, I added some purple low-tac tape.

• To the BACK of your frame, add foam tape to the 3 sides close to your slider, but not TOO close or it won't slide well.  (Don't tape the edge where your notch is cut out.)  

• And now we can add our truck!  You'll want to pop it up with foam strips/tape so it goes over our frame on the edge.  Start your strips in a li'l ways as shown below so that our truck will go over the frame a li'l bit.  That way we know it will reveal our whole stamped image.

• Attach your truck to the far RIGHT of your card but make sure your foam strips/tape does not go onto the frame! I added some fairly flat sprinkles to fill the space on front and added my "Sweet Birthday Wishes" using the words with shadow dies (linked below).

Easy Slider Card with No Special Dies

Hi everyone! My name is Linh and I'm honored and excited to be here as a guest designer. I have a new video up on the CottageCutz YouTube Channel. In this video, I'll show you how I made this fun slider card. I don't drink so when I say "Make it a double", my husband knows this is what I'm talking about. LOL

To create this card, I've used elements from three different sets from the new Sweet Treats collection. The main ice cream cup and larger scoop of ice cream is from the Ice Cream Sundae die set. That set includes a dollop of whipped cream and a strawberry, but I always think of ice cream sundaes as having a cherry on top, so I took the cherry from the Cupcake with Cherry set. The scale fits perfectly. In order to have the second scoop hidden initially, it needs to be smaller than the large scoop. I used one of the many scoops of ice cream from the Build An Ice Cream Cone set.  This creates the perfect double-scoop ice cream cup!

I die cut all the elements from solid color card stock but to make the ice cream extra special, I dusted it with Nuvo Shimmer Powder and spritz it with my homemade mica mist in snow white. That gives it all the delicious color variation of natural ice cream as well as a beautiful shimmer. I used Diamond Glaze on the cherry to give it that glossy shine. To finish the card, I used my Dymo label to create the custom sentiment and stamped "pull here" on an arrow so the card recipient knows this is an interactive card.

Valentine Secret Message Slider Card!

Hello everyone! It’s Janet back with another video project for you today. With Valentine’s Day around the corner, I thought I would create a fun secret message slider card. When you pull on the tab, it reveals a heartbeat and finishes the sentiment so that the card reads, “My heart……” on the front and “Beats for You!” on the slider tab.

I had a lot of fun using foam for some of the pieces on this card including the glittered hearts from the Heartbeats die set and two bows from the Build A Bow die. These pieces add a lot of dimension and texture. I really like using foam for bows because they’ll pop back into shape after being mailed. I decorated the front using the Doily from the Tea Time Doily die and added a border at the top and bottom from the Sweet Love Border Set. As it happens, the Heartbeats die is currently 35% off and is under $6.50 right now at the store so I encourage you to check that out and the other sales currently underway.

Slider & shaker card

It's Anja here. Today I'm sharing a card where I used two popular card designs. I combined a shaker and a slider card. I used mini toys dies that are perfect for these kind of interactive cards.

I used:
- Cottage Cutz dies (Toy Airplane Mini, Toy Submarine Mini, Toy Tugboat Mini, Stitched Rounded Square Set),
- Distress Oxides (Fired Brick, Spiced Marmalade, Peeled Pint, Fossilized Amber, Broken China, Faded Jeans),
- white card base (12,5x12,5 cm),
- watercolor paper (9,5x9,5 cm and 12x12 cm),
- white foam,
- clear acetate,
- shaker filler material (seed beads),
- foam adhesive pads,
- pennies,
- spin&slide discs,
- glue.

 I die cut all the toys and colored them with the Distress Oxides. I glued little pieces of paper on the backside to make the windows.

Then I made the background. I took 9,5x9,5 cm watercolor cardstock. I used blue shades of Oxides and blended them together. Then splashed some water drops on top and dried them with a heat gun.

Then I used the biggest square die for the 12x12 cm paper and the 3rd and 5th biggest for the 9,5x9,5 cm paper. I also cut another square from white cardstock that was the same size as the small blue frame (not pictured).

Next I made the shaker part of the card. I used the second biggest square die to cut the acetate and 3rd and 5th biggest die to cut foam. I adhered the acetate on the colored frame first and added the foam. I let it dry before continuing. I glued the other two pieces as shown on the picture below. Bigger blue frame on the card base and the smallest blue square on the bigger white square. When all was dried I put shaker fillers inside and closed it. I let it all dry again. I used liquid glue but could also used double side adhesive tape and made it a little quicker.

I used foam adhesive foam pads to glue the shaker part and white frame on the card base.

Before I adhered the white frame I made the slider mechanism. I used pennies and discs for that and inserted them on. Then I glued the frame.

In the end I added the toys. I glued the boat directly on the acetate.

And this is the finished card.
