Party Pony - interlocking gatefold card

Hi, Janja is here with you.
I have another birthday card for you today. I found the idea for this card in an animated fantasy movie - My Little Pony.

- CottageCutz dies: Party Pony, Birthday Cupcake w/Roses, Happy, Birthday
- white card base: 5.90" x 5.90" (15 x 15 cm), folded
- patterned paper: 5.6 x 5.6" (14,2 x 14,2 cm)
- colored cardstock
- colored ink pads
- white gel pen
- double-sided adhesive tape, glue

Cut a pony out of colored cardstock 5 times.

Sponge a sheet of white cardstock with colored pads and cut out the Happy Birthday sentiment.

Prepare the card base.

Cut the frame using square dies. Once from white cardstock and once from patterned paper. Outer size is 4.25 "x 4.25" (11,5 x 11,5 cm).
We will also use both interior squares.

Trim patterned paper twice. Cut out the cupcake.

Attach the patterned paper and both frames to the card base as shown.

Now all we have to do is paste the ponies, the sentiment and the cupcake.

To close the card easier, I later cut off with a corner puncher lower left corner of the center square.

Have a nice day.

Colorful Tri-Shutter Card

Hi, Lois here today with a card full of bright sunny colors -- and lots of folds!   Yellow/orange/lime green is such a happy color combination.   I used a die/stamp set and several other dies from CottageCutz.

Supplies used on today's card are:

Yellow cardstock - 12 x 5 1/2"
Lime green for the mats
Patterned paper for the panels
Scraps of orange and black for the sentiment and butterfly
Copic markers
Scor-Pal
Foam pop dots
CottageCutz dies - Marigolds - October (stamp/die set), Happy, Birthday, Double-stitched Ovals, Spring Butterfly 1

Cut the yellow cardstock  to 12" x 5 1/2" and score on the 2", 4", 8", and 10" marks.

Place the panel in your paper cutter with the long edge at the 1 1/2" mark.  Cut a slit from the 2" scoreline to the 10" scoreline.  Rotate 180 degrees and cut the same way on the other side.

Fold on the scorelines  as shown in the photo.

I used the card base and traced around the end T-shape section and cut a template.  I then cut 1/16" around the edge to make a template for the mat piece, and again another 1/16" to make a template for the patterned paper piece.

Cut the mat  and patterned paper pieces as follows:

Lime green - 4 pieces 1 3/8" x 1 7/8", 2 pieces 1 3/8" x 3 7/8", 1 piece 2 3/8" x 3 7/8", and two pieces using the larger of the two T-shaped templates.

Patterned paper - 4 pieces 1 1/4" x 1 3/4", 2 pieces 1 1/4" x 3 3/4", 1 piece 2 1/4" x 3 3/4", two pieces using the smaller of the two T-shaped templates.

Layer and adhere the patterned paper to the lime green pieces.  Adhere to the card base, as shown.

Stamp and color the marigolds onto white cardstock and then cut all the die-cut pieces.

Apply the die-cut pieces to your card, and you're finished.

This is such a fun card to make.  I hope you'll give it a try.

Birthday Time!

Hi, it's Lois here again.  I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and New Year.  Now it's time to get back to work . . . or fun, as the case may be!   I have another fun birthday card for you today using a few CottageCutz Mini, Petite, and Expression dies.

Supplies needed for this card are:

Card base - white cardstock, balloon patterned paper
Scraps of colored cardstock - pink, green, purple, red, yellow, orange, black, white
Ink - Distress Worn Lipstick
Other - red pen, ribbon, foam pop dots, adhesive sheet, scallop border punch, ruler, pencil

I started with a white card base 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", folded in half.  Using a pencil and ruler, I marked in 1/2" on all four sides.

Using a red pen, I drew a border around the edge. Then I cut a strip of patterned paper 1 1/2" x 5 1/4" and punched the scallop border down the long left-hand side, adhered it to the left-hand side of the card and ran a ribbon round the center, gluing to the inside of the card.

Next I cut all my dies. I wasn't sure how many balloons I was going to need, so I arbitrarily cut six of them.

As it turned out, I used only five of the balloons on the front of the card, so I put the sixth one on the inside.

I had cut two present die-cuts -- one in pink cardstock and one in patterned paper.  I cut the ribbon portion of the pink one out and backed the hearts with a small strip of red.   After sponging around the outside of the patterned paper, I glued the ribbon to the package.

All that was left was to construct my card.  To make it a bit easier, I had put an adhesive sheet behind some of the cardstock for the smaller die-cuts, such as the sentiment dies, string and shadow on the balloon die.  The sentiment is glued flat, while the balloons and present are popped up on foam dots.

In the color of lavender

Hi, Janja here!

Stunning scent of Mediterranean bush is expanding far and wide. Tiny flowers with its violet blue color catches the eye. Lavender is fully blooming.
I tried to catch some of its color and romance on a birthday card.
Let's see how it is made.

For the card we need:
- white card base: 5.3 x 5.3" (13,5 x 13,5 cm)
- patterned paper: two sheets in size of - 5.24 x 5.24" (13,3 x 13,3 cm) and four sheets in size of - 5 x 5" (12,7 x 12,7 cm)
- white and violet cardstock
- ribbon

We prepare two cutouts from a white cardstock with the die oval doily & frame. Also cut out two oval holes in a patterned paper with the die in which we will later insert white ovals.

From a white cardstock cut out birds with the die bird trio and 4 lace borders with the die fancy floral lace border.
For more contrast cut birds also from violet cardstock and the basic of two flowers. The upper part of the flowers and leaves is cut out from a white cardstock with the dies: doodle flowers set 1 , doodle flowers set 2, and leaves & stems.

Glue patterned papers with double-sided adhesive tape between themselves and insert white ovals in oval holes. On a card base we attach a ribbon.

Assemble the card.

Look on a spread card with a space for greetings and an inscription happy birthday.

I would like to remind you on our challenge #4 - greenery
You still have time to share your projects with us.

I hope you have been inspired by my card today.
