Discover Shaker Card

Happy Friday Cottage Cutz fans!  It's Jeanne today and I have a fun shaker card for you!  I love interactive cards and this one uses some really cute dies.  I just love this mouse and snail.
I started with an A2 sized top fold card base.  I cut a panel from patterned paper the same size as the front (5 1/2 x 4 1/4 inches) and a slightly smaller panel from a coordinating paper for the back of the shaker.
Next I die cut all my pieces for the foliage and critters from a variety of green and neutral card stocks.
You may notice that there are a few pieces missing from this photo - that's because as I was puting this together I decided to add a few extra elements.

I cut the word discovery from a dark purple card stock that had been backed with adhesive paper.  I like doing this with fine elements.  I wait until I'm ready to stick it down before I  try to remove it from the rest of the card stock since it also removes it from the adhesive backing.
I used the third largest oval and cut an opening from my from the front panel about 1/2 inch from each side and the bottom.  Then I adhered an acetate panel to the back with "snail" tape.
On the front side I glued down  all of my elements.
When I finished I put a double layer of foam tape on the back.  Keep the tape very close to the shaker.  It does not have to touch on all sides of the opening as long as the sequins (or beads or whatever) can't escape through any holes.  I used anti-static powder to the inside of the tape so my sequins would not stick to it.
After gluing my smaller back panel to my A2 base I added about one tablespoon of sequins in the center of the card.
Then I placed the card front on top.
I hope you enjoyed this card today.  It was a lot of fun to make.

Spring Scene with Cute Animals

Hi everyone! It's Anja here and this is my first post on the Cottage Cutz blog. I'm very honored and happy to be able to share my work with you for the next six months.

For my first post I decided to combine a few different dies and made a spring scene with some cute animals.

I used:
- white card stock base (13x34 cm, folded at 8,5 cm and 25,5 cm)
- white card stock strip (4x36 cm, folded at 8,5 cm and 25,7 cm)
- white paper for die cuts
- Distress Ink pads: Peeled paint, Mowed lawn, Barn Door, Shabby Shutters, Stormy Sky, Spun Sugar, Squeezed Lemonade, Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalade, Vintage Photo, Weathered Wood, Tea Dye, Pumice Stone
- patterned paper (12,6x16,6 cm, 2x 12,6x8,3 cm)
- white and black pen
- paper glue

First I cut all the little elements from white paper.

Then I colored them with Distress Inks and glued them together. I made the eyes with black pen and bunny and mouse ears and nose with white pen.

I then folded the white card stock base at 8,5 and 25,5 cm and glued on some patterned paper. I applied some Peeled Paint Distress Ink on the edges of patterned paper.

Then I colored the sky and grass with a sponge and Distress Inks. And glued all the pieces together.

In the end I made a strip that holds the card closed. I cut tree stitched squares and decorated them with the cute little snail that goes well with the patterned paper.

Camping Scene on StairStep Card

Hello Scrapping Cottage friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit today. It's Mary Marsh here bringing you the Saturday edition of the Blog.

We had some great sales this past week. First there was Black Friday and then Cyber Monday. I managed to pick up a few Christmas presents at great prices.
Speaking of Black Friday, there was a new release of dies here at the Scrapping Cottage.  The Camping Bundle is packed full of dies for the outdoor enthusiast and can help you create some really cute scenic cards. There are 12 new dies included in this set. And, it looks like it is on sale. If you buy the entire set you can save 55%. Each individual die is currently 30% off the list price.

I am using several dies from this new release. So let's get started with some details on my stair step camping card. I used an outer stair step to create my camping scene. I bought the stair step card at a local retailer. But, here is a tutorial from Splitcoaststampers  that shows you step by step how to make your own. This card will fold flat for mailing and measure 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". It's a standard A2.

I started the creation of my scene with the 3rd step and there I placed the snowcapped mountains and forest trees. I sponged the white background with a soft blue ink. I used 2 sets of mountains to fill the width of the step. The forest trees are cut in a dark green cardstock. They are a border die so it was perfect to use here.

My next step was to add the images for the outer part of the card. I sponged the outer part of the stair in the same soft blue ink and then down at the bottom I used an olive ink and a chocolate ink. I used the Campfire Clothesline, Woodland Friends and Camping Phrases dies on this part of the card.

In the center part of the step, I used the Campsite die for the directional arrows and the Forest Critters die for the little hedgehog.

That completes my card for this week. I hope I have provided some inspiration for you with these new Camping dies. they were so much fun to work with to create my camping scene. I will see you again next Saturday. So until next time........inky hugs.

Exploring forest on four paws

Hi, Janja here!

Today I share with you another card created with "In the forest" dies. These are really great dies, and can be used for many occasions.
For the main image I chose a curious puppy, who went alone exploring the forest.

For the card we need:
- white card base: 4.3 x 5.5" (11 x 14 cm), folded
- light gray paper: 4 x 5.2" (10,2 x 13,3 cm)
- colored cardstock
- Distress ink: Antique Linen, Tea Dye, Brushed Corduroy, Mowed Lawn, Peeled Paint, Black Soot
- Distress marker: Vintage Photo, Walnut Stain
- Perfect pearls powder
- white color

Cut out puppy with die - forest peekers, beaver & dog. Shadow all pieces with distress inks and compose a puppy.

We do the same with the die - tree stump & log for peekers. Use brown cardstock, shadow it with distress inks and draw darker spots with a marker.
From green cardstock cut fern and grass. Use mushrooms & greenery die.
Now we need a snail and cute mouse. Cut out both with the forest critters die.

I did not really like selected gray paper, so I refreshed it.

Add a few drops of green and yellow ink in a mini mister together with perfect pearls powder for silky shine and water.
Shake it up well, and sprinkle the background.

When all the pieces are assembled and attached to the background, apply a white color with a sponge.

Completed card.

That’s all for today. Thank you for coming over and have a great day.
