Christmas Greetings

Hello CottageCutz friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with us today. It's Mary Marsh here bringing you the Sunday edition of the Blog.

We have 2 new releases in the online store. The Christmas 2023 release is available and currently at 30% off individual dies. The Black Friday In The Garden release is also available at 30% off individual dies.

For today's card, I am featuring the new Vintage Horse & Sleigh die. If you are in need of some quick and easy Christmas cards, then this post is definitely for you. I am still creating Christmas cards so I am right there with you.

Design Steps:

I started my card with the designer paper. I just bought this "One Horse Open Sleigh paper pack from Stampin' Up because of the background scenery.  For this pattern I thought of the Vintage Horse & Sleigh die and my card was born. You could use any designer paper from your stash that has a scene on it.
I cut the designer paper to a 5 1/2" square. I didn't want to cut too much of this beautiful scene away.

Designer Paper: 5 1/2" square
Boho Blue Base: 5 3/4" square

Since I don't have 12" paper in this shade of blue, I used 8 1/2" x 11" paper and a hinge technique to make the base larger. You can check out this post to see exactly how I did this.
Next, I cut the sleigh image in a dark blue cardstock and my greeting from white glitter paper which picks up the lights on the trees and house. The Christmas Greetings phrase is from the 2018 collection and is still available in our online store.
Now I am ready to start card assembly. Attached the designer paper with double sided tape.

The sentiment and sleigh are attached with clear drying glue and this card is done. I said it was quick and easy.
That's it for me for this post. See you next Saturday.

Holiday Front Door

Hello CottageCutz friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with us today. It's Mary Marsh here bringing you the Monday edition of the Blog. I am filling in for Kristine today who is enjoying some family time this week. She will be back next week with a couple of posts.

Our new Folk Art release is still available in the online store at 35% off individual dies. There are 19 new designs that are so perfect for cardmaking, journaling, and scrapbooking.

They allow you to add a beautiful touch of folk art to whatever you may be creating - birthday, thank-you, new home, thinking of you and even Christmas. The design team has featured many creative ideas using these dies so take a look back at our posts for inspiration.

Today I am featuring a card that I made for the Christmas in July color challenge #956 on Splitcoaststampers. We were to use cherry cobbler, pool party and old olive for our color trio.

I used the Holiday Door (Christmas 2022 collection) die for my card and cut in the challenge colors.  I ink blended the pool party cardstock to get a deeper shade of blue. My sentiment is an older die from 2018 -  Christmas Greetings.

The background designer paper is from a "tidings of Christmas" collection.

That's it for me for this post. See you again on Saturday.

card details:
Paper: cherry cobbler, old olive, pool party, sahara sand, mossy meadow, tidings of Christmas dsp (Stampin' Up), glass slipper, sugar daddy (BazzillBasics)
Paper Size: A2
Ink: tumbled glass distress ink (Ranger)
Accessories: holiday door die, christmas greetings die (CottageCutz)

Penguin Bringing Christmas Greetings

Hello Scrapping Cottage friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with us today. It's Mary Marsh here bringing you the Saturday edition of the Blog.

Hope you are enjoying your summer. It's been so hot and humid here in the Pittsburgh area. So I thought I would cool things done a bit and bring you a Christmas card. My favorite TV shopping channel is having a big Christmas in July event. And, of course, I already started my Christmas shopping.
Since, I am in the Christmas spirit I am featuring the Penguin With Presents and the Christmas Greetings dies.

Let's get started with some details on how I created this card.
Step 1: This week I started with my card colors. I used the colors from the Splitcoaststampers color challenge #697 which are berry burst, granny apple green and smoky slate to create my card. The optional twist was to create a Christmas card. I love making Christmas cards in non-traditional colors.

Step 2: I started my die cutting with the penguin and present. I used the berry burst for his hat, scarf and bow. The granny apple green makes a great color for a present. Don't you think?
Next, I cut the pine tree for my wintry scene. Since the penguin is 2 1/4" high I needed a slightly larger pine tree so I selected the one that is in the Campsite collection. I cut from mossy meadow cardstock.

My last die cut is the Christmas sentiment that I cut in the berry burst cardstock. I wanted a bold color on the snow bank. I cut it out 2x to give it more dimension on my card.
Next I embossed the white image panel with a snowfall embossing folder.
Step 3: All my card elements are ready so time to start card assembly. I secured the panels with double sided tape. I cut a snowbank and added some chunky glitter to the top. Used dimensional adhesive to attach to smoky slate layer. The Christmas Greeting sentiment was attached with Ranger Multi Matte Medium.
Finished building my little scene by adding the penguin and the pine tree. I attached both with dimensional adhesive. I thought the top of the card looked a little bare so I cut 3 small snowflakes from the Snowglobe, Winter Accessories die in a white glitter paper to make them standout. Only 2 worked at the top so I used the 3rd to highlight the sentiment.
Well that's it for me for this week. I hope I have given you some inspiration if you have these dies. If not, and you would like to purchase they available in the online store. See you next Saturday!!!
